How do we know that the Sabres didn't play Toronto jut as much as Babs played Buffalo? I would only be pissed if Babs took significantly less than the rumored amount. |

If Torts was given a job here again, would it be more beneficial than having Bylsma or Richardson? |

Only thing I can think of is more disciplined players. If he follows his reputation, of course. |

We dodged a bullet. This is a blessing in disguise. Toronto will not win a cup. Babcock inherited the greatest coach of all time's roster and was the coach for the most consistent, well managed sports team in North America.
Good (frank)ing luck in Toronto, BabRichard.
I said yesterday (or the day before) that all the circus surrounding this poope made me prefer he went elsewhere. I'm not upset in the least he isn't our coach. |

I don't think TO goes full rebuild, or Babcock wouldn't have signed. They committed to a tank last year after being in 8th place in December to finishing in 27th with hopes to improve their chances of winning the lottery. Now, they hire the most sought after coach since Bowman and do a complete 180 in the process.
He obviously only wanted the money. I don't see where a coach gets off having such a large say in personnel decisions. Apply for the (frank)ing GM position, then. - DynamicThreads
What if the new GM wants his own coach ? |

His NYR teams were underachievers and he did poop-all in Vancouver. No thanks. It'd be like hiring Barry Melrose. |

Not sure what you mean? What if the incoming GM for Toronto wants someone other than Babcock? If that's the case, I'm sure the GM is hired knowing he has no say and that he is on the same page. |

Do you think that Babcock will want to trade Kessel or Phaneuf now? - rmiethaner
I'd think so. I can't imagine Mike being the only person in the industry that thinks you can win with Phil and Dion. |

I wouldn't mind him as an assistant. Would be worth it just to see him go into another team's locker room. |

What's the tax rate in NY? ~9%?
The combined provincial/federal income tax here will nail him for just under 50%.

I have no idea who the next coach of the Sabres will be. Last year I was thinking Luke Richardson but we shall see, I don't think it will take long though. - GilPerreault11
No AHL coach should be considered unless he got his team to the playoffs ever year. |

The guys on TSN were saying he'd probably be consulted on the new GM
It's been speculated for a while that the Leafs GM wouldn't be a typical GM, but probably more of a middle man, handling the negotiations. |

I agree. I hope it blows up in their faces. I don't see where a coach gets off having a larger or just as much say in what the roster looks like. He's come across as a huge megalomaniac. FFS, the guy inherited a fantastic team in its prime, is 1 for 3 (I'd take those odds but still, he's no Scotty Bowman) in the stanley cup finals, and was mediocre almost every other year he was in the playoffs.
Ups our rivalry, though for the next 8 years.
