So wtf changed between 8am and 8:15am that wasn't apparent the night before? Did he all of a sudden try to pull a fast one on Pegula and co. at the last minute? It seems like everyone went to bed last night thinking the deal was done and everyone was happy. Then he wakes up and what, gets a last second phone call from Shanny saying he will be the man in TO for the same amount of term and dollar?

Good god, I really hope this blows up in their face, and not because its Toronto or that he burned us. But because he seems like a sketchy head-case who thinks way too highly of himself.

Honestly, the sabres last night thought it was done. Trust me,I know a few well informed people and one texted me at 8am,said done coming here,then 814, hold on hiccup.. He texted later going to toronto and he called me three times,I was in meetins,so there is more and will know soon

Eichel already has told sabres he won't go back to college. Murray before world championships had heart set on trading whatever. To get mcdavid,I know there is some change of thinking after tournament. Will know soon on the other coaching idea. I would think bylsma has to be at top, with all the pittsburgh connections,will know

Thanks for info 39. You've given a lot of good information past week. Everything you've said pretty much matches up to what's transpired. 95% done seems like exactly what the Sabres saw as well. Keep us posted when you hear about some new coaching candidates.

As of now last I heard, yes but with Murray anything can happen. Babcock pushed for more and more, he gets what he wants in money and years from the Sabres and he pushes for more. The Leafs will sell there souls for players and coaches.

I have no idea what happened nor do I really care all that much, it is what it is. One thing I don't want is GM by committee as I don't think that will ever work. If that is what killed this deal then I am happy.

Murray is the GM for a reason, that's his job. IMO you have to wonder " bending the rule " a little for a coach like Babcock would be an ok thing in my book.

I applaud the Sabres for holding the line on roster decisions.
I could see some input logically, but I'm not sure how practical it is in reality.
Coaches coach and GM's manage....a clean line I think is the best way organizationally.

I want to see how it plays out in TO.

He got the money offer he wanted from Buffalo, then called the one place he wanted to be at all along, the center of the hockey universe -- Toronto Canada. They conveniently dont have a GM, and they conveniently would be able to match the high offer he would get from desperate Buffalo owner and team.
