Step away from that ledge. No one is saying youre wrong. We're just sharing our opinions here. I disagree with you and im not acting like a total female dog about it.
"Control" is not something coaches worry about. And especially a good coach like Babcock. He will always be able to have a say in player personnel decisions. Any GM would ask Babcock for his input on which players to call up, what kind of players he wants to play for him, etc... Hell, he even had that in Detroit as evidenced by the HBO 24/7 episodes.
He didnt go to Toronto for control. - theblueandgold
Meh, I think you are 100% wrong.
It was for control. The offers and term were the same. The reported sticking point was control..when TO gave it to him the scene immediately shifted. coaches want absolute control., Such that They then can more, control their output. Ask Teddy if he would like control after this year...plain as day.
I don't understand your position in the least.
Icing on the cake was it was TO to push it over the hump. |

I look at it this way. Nice work by Babcock and no one can say he didn't get the best he could out of the leafs. At least this once.... If roster control was what he wanted then I'm glad we didn't get him. |

Last week Don Cherry went on a litany as to why Babcock should not leave Detroit, grass isn't greener, blah, blah, blah. Now that he went to the Leafs "Happy days are here again" "Babcock is going to be great!" What a senile loser. |

Any truth to the rumor that Bylsma is in Buffalo? |

I can't believe they keep him on TV, he lost his marbles decades ago. |

Ya he doesn't even have to say a word and you can tell he's whacked just by his attire. |

This, exactly. There is a huge difference between knowing how to get the most out of your talent and finding the talent. I would have loved him here but not as the hockey czar. We'll be fine. |

He clearly wanted the leafs from the start. Which is why he told most teams no weeks ago and they moved on. He knew full well Pegula was the one to keep interested to get the big number for Toronto to match. If they didn't want to, then he goes back to Detroit. Buffalo was just used as a pawn unfortunately while others were hiring coaches.
At least that's what the details suggest to me. |

I said on @TSN1050Radio yesterday Babcock's family would accept moving to Buffalo because of big money. ... When money's the same? A factor. |

I think Tyler Johnson and Tampa Bat are an example of guys who have benefitted from being around Stamkos. Always seeing up close a guy that plays at an insane pace and can really turn it up. |

You could really say that about any of the coaches left. I'm convinced whoever we hire will wind up being nothing more than a place holder. |

Don't you cry boys. Don't you dare cry. You have 1000x the prospects of Toronto. They have 2 decent prospects... A skinny swede and a 5"8 Connor brown.... The rest is history.
You might cry for losing Babcock but remember. He only has one cup with an awesome wings team in 13 seasons. He has gold medals but look at the team canada he had. I could win a gold.
Don't forget your last years coach Ted Nolan took a team of rejects and wannabes and almost beat the almighty Babcock and his almighty Canada team in the Olympics. Only 2-1 man of it wasn't for Price briLliant 3rd period then Canada loses to Ted Nolan. - QuickSCF

Murray has way more to do with the success of this team over the next 5 years than any coach we could have or will hire. If he doesn't do an excellent job it doesn't matter who the coach is. |
