Basically, The Leafs fanbase bought themselves a bigger toy than the other fan bases could afford.
Boo hoo. - Aetherial
I'm not how or why anyone would try and spin the signing of a very good coach as a bad thing.
Because he cost alot? not an issue for TOronto.. might be an issue for 1/2 of the other teams... but not Toronto
How would those philosophical purists spin the Leafs signing a top Free Agent (e.g Stamkos (and don't say I'm suggesting this is likely - IT IS JUST AN EXAMPLE).
How would this be a bad thing?
totally. for the money, my favorite is OBAN 14. gone up in price, but much better IMO than some more expensive ones. - clark_griswold
Highland park 15 or Glenfiddich's 14(don't see it too often) are my top choices. A few people have told me to try oban, haven't gotten around to it yet.
That's why I specified cheap. No mixing anything into good scotch, except maybe some filtered water, and even then only a bit. - Feeling Glucky?
you are supposed to (but i mean this is next level) place a single drop of water into it. i use the ice rocks IF i want it cold. i usually like it neat/room temp
Babcock is awesome, after that its easy to see he is a fit.
I was skeptical - senstroll
ya well no one asked you ok? so just take a hike
Just Kiddingggggggggggg....you bet your ass it's awesome....no one, except the President (he's a troll) can say it's a bad move. JFJ simply likes to rile feathers.
if it was a 3 year deal, yes, could be bad. But they went 8 as that's how long it may take to become a contender unfortuanately.

They would have a hard time b1cthing about player signings since we are all under the same cap.
People don't like that the Leafs outspent everyone else this time around... because they could.

Same. Even let it get a bit of warmth from my hands first. Cooling it just fills the flavours... A bit of water helps bring out some of the aromas hidden by intensity of the alcohol itself.
I think the single drop is just for when you're tasting a small amount though, like a half ounce. For a full drink I think you can do more.

I was in favour of the salary cap because I prefer an even playing field. If the Leafs ever do win in my lifetime, I don't want to hear how they bought a championship.
On the other hand, the Leafs, through the Toronto fan base props up much of the league financially.
I don't feel too guilty seeing the fan base go out and pay for something they want. If that fan base can afford more than other fan bases it is probably because they are bigger and pay/spend more money on the team. Again, I don't feel guilty about it. - Aetherial
Glad you wrote this.
Whether the leafs big purchase works out or not, it's the fans who are going to pay. Some fans will laugh at this saying MLSE has more than enough money to pay for babcocks heavy contract. But MLSE doesn't actually pay for anything. The fans will bare this load. What will be the payroll of the leaf's management team (and with a GM yet to be paid) after this signing?
Will this new expenditure ensure that ticket prices continue to climb and make it unaffordable for average fan to see their team live? Will even more revenue need to be generated to offset the increased operational cost?

The one thing I like about really cheap, weak-ass US beer (inevitably bought as a 30 pack for $12.99 at a convenience store just before you hit the border) is you can fill up a cooler with them, and just keep crushing them all day in the sun, and never really get polluted.
It's just a nice buzz all afternoon with your buddies on a dock or out of a golf bag or whatever. - Atomic Wedgie
Yep, use to live right next to the main border when I was young and we would always go get a ton of Busch and we'd play frisbee all day by the river without ever needing to pass out.

Go to Allen's on the Danforth. Nice little pub - great patio out back. And a terrific scotch menu - you can sit at the bar and work your way around the menu.
(Or at least you could a few years ago - I confess I haven't been there in a while).
