what about our arguement...

kessel and #4 for buffalo's pick (eichel)? surely you saw a very good player in the WHC

and packaging JVR and phil is friggin 12 million bucks.

- clark_griswold

Ew, no. Rather have Strome or Marner plus another 1st and a top prospect (at least probably more if you include JVR) for Kessel than just Eichel.

Washington can afford it, especially if they dump Laich on us who I'd take no problem.

When they acquired him, he had only scored 30 goals once. Since then, he's done it pretty much every single year. Him and JVR together have averaged 60 goals a year together every year. For a playoff team like Washington, it's a near perfect fit. Their GM even said they want a #1 RW and Kessel is the only one out there available.

Washington has 19 million in cap space (maybe more next year) and we can easily take Laich back. That gives them almost 25 million in cap space to add two guys at 12 million who can give you 60+ goals total.

never say never....but the odds of packaging those 2 is next to impossible.

No it's not. Look to Washington. They want a #1 RW and they have 19 million in cap space. 25 million if the cap goes up a bit and they dump Laich.

Kessel and JVR for Johansson, Burakovsky, 2015 1st, 2016 1st and Laich.

They dump 4.5 million with Laich, add only 8 million for Kessel and JVR and add 60 goals, at least. Just imagine that top 6 they would have.

And Kessel has done it with Bozak as his centre.

I don't know why Leafs fans keep forgetting this.

I think you'll be the surprised one.

Dreger:

"At least in Toronto, there is endless debate, speculation, guessing, over what the Maple Leafs should get this summer if a decision is made to trade Phil Kessel and Dion Phaneuf. It's likely the Leafs will try and move both and because of Kessel's poor play this season, some view his contract in golf terminology, an immovable object. This is not the case according to an NHL GM who believes Toronto should be able fetch a first-round draft pick, a top young player and a really good prospect. According to this source, if the Leafs have the cap space to take a bad contract back, the return should be better. We'll see."

i can't remember ever, even before the cap was introduced, a trade of that much money (2 guys $12 million). closest was the parise/suter signings.

Hmmmmm, so Leafsman told you to head on over to the lounge, because a blogger was saying something or threatening to say something that would blow up the Leafs thread if it was true....

It's better if you just tell me.

You know I'll figure it out.

C'mon, just tell me.

Pretty please?

Ovechkin Backstrom Kessel
JVR Kuznetsov Brouwer
Chimera Fehr Wilson

I mean, come on, Washington doesn't jump all over that for a couple of late 1sts and two top prospects? Plus dumping Laich!

I'm not saying they wouldn't be interested.

Just that Kessel isn't worth, in my humble opinion, worth giving up 2 first and a prospect for.

return could be good, but impossible to move him and JVR..and return will never come close to the end result of Hamilton / seguin. Hamilton to me, is the one who hurts more. And i know how good seguin is.

No it's not. Kessel and JVR together can easily bring that in if not together, seperately. Eichel is another Kessel. I'd rather have more.

Exactly, and that's what trolling should be... something that both sets of fans can laugh at, either in content or delivery.

Instead we get folks popping in with "EHRMAHGERDZ, LAFFS SUCK SOOOO MUCH DERP DERP!!! T'RONNO SUCKS, WHAT A poopTY CITY DERP!!"

- lumlums

that's not trolling. that's just having a laugh.
