it's far from great too. when i look at success, i look at players who are pillars in the important positions.

do we have a potential #1, even #2 centre (we may after the draft)
do we have 2-3 top D prospects/youngsters (rielly)

the above guys, 50% will be lucky to make it, let alone have an impact. POint is, you can go through the other 29 teams and they'd have 'depth' prospects like that above. I wouldn't be so down if we had been good, but to be that bad and have prospects like this is depressing...

Babcock (i'm instantly not depressed anymore)

- clark_griswold

So 29 other teams have a 20 year old who led the AHL in rookie scoring? 29 other teams have a 19 year old who was top 5 in SEL goal scoring? I think you've been beaten down by too many great leaf prospect hopes that you can't even recognize when a prospect actually has a greater than usual shot of making it as a solid contributing player at the NHL level. Can't say I blame you.

You didn't think Horton was significant to their 2011 Cup run?
- TheThrill

No. Aaron Rome killed him in game one remember? Thomas, Chara, Bergeron, Kreijci, Marchand, Lucic and Seidenberg were important.

"Source close to a player" told Championat Galchenyuk is close to signing in the KHL, with several top clubs interested.
- the_eye

so he burns off his cheap years in the nhl when he could be making way more in the khl only to run to russia when he's close to getting a better nhl contract?

i dont see the logic in this so im gonna call bs

Agreed

And getting those types of guys is going to be so much more difficult with Babcock coaching the Leafs out of the basement and also reducing the possibility of the firesale that was impending which could have helped bring in those vital picks and prospects.

We are in a rebuild, but just hired a coach who likes winning and can build a winning culture while we rebuild.

The issue that the negative nancies are having is that they think you need to be last every year to rebuild.

(frank), all I have heard for the last 3-4 weeks is how we need to have a winning culture for these young guys while we draft and develop players. Now, people are in here crying about the best coach the Leafs have had since Quinn

Can't win for losing with these guys

- TheThrill

Copy that......Leaf blogs are painful cause of the negative nannies.......never happy!

One thing I don't understand...

What's the connection between Babcock and Stamkos coming to Toronto?

- Pecafan Fan

All I see is this signing making the Leafs seem like a more legitimate operation, on the right track.

At 8 years, I don't think Babcock will stand in the way of trading away guys who won't fit with his team, even Phil and the gang.

In the finals. Horton was a presence the 3 previous rounds, IMO.

But no problem. I understand you don't like JVR, that's fair.

Horton was a beast getting them to that point. He had a bunch of GWG and OTGWG too. Even that injury rallied the team because he was so important to them during that run. Just sayin'

Pretty good chance to land top 3 no matter where outside the playoffs you are now.

Having said that, 15 million invested in Richardey is a massive problem. Reyes is loops, there are other big issues...
