I'm happy for the Leafs as well. That franchise deserves a bounce to go their way, if anything because they have passionate fans. I'll never have sympathy for the Floridas or Arizonas of the world, who have pitiful fair weathered fan support.
Having said all that...I secretly ( or not so secretly)wanted them to hire Dallas Eakins, but that was so I could enjoy him as a comedic figure, not a Horror. - Jeropotato
Dallas is so 2012. although our chances at austin matthews probably just went to poop. |

with babcocks reputation for getting the most out of his top players, do Kessel,Phaneuf,Bozak and Lupul get a 2nd chance?
I'd like to see Kessel stay for sure. His value is not gonna drop any lower,
and if we trade him at the deadline about 25 goals and 60 pts, we could get a haul. |

My guess is that Shannahan has made up his mind about them. Babcock would really have to go to bat for someone |

Plenty can change. Babcock can look at the roster and ask " who's gonna score?" A lunch meeting with Phil, a commitment one way or the other and a clean slate and he might stay. Or Babcock could demand the Leafs trade him this summer. Who knows? |

Note the word revenue sharing not profit sharing. Revenue is the total money brought in by the company.
Profit is Revenue minus expenses.
That should answer your question. - KesselRules
You're right - need my morning coffee still...
I did not consider for a moment that it would be a pure revenue formula, since that would mean that teams could have to pay, even if they were making financial losses..
Read a bit into this and it's not very transparent how the revenue sharing works, and same goes for the thresholds for teams to qualify to receive money (e.g. min 80% of games minimum 14,000 public)..

If the Leafs move Dion, Kessel and Bernier for futures your team is bad. Really bad. Babcock can only get the team to play to their potential, not weave magic spells. |

As was thoroughly explained at last year's deadline, you are not going to get the best deal at the deadline cause it is way too hard to move an $8M cap hit during the season.
More bidders means better return. More teams can entertain the idea of adding him in the offseason.

This.
Love all the people who think there is any hope of him ruining the draft pick. If the trades we expect happen, I see no possible way Leafs finish anywhere but last |

I'm thinking the fact it's an 8 yr deal is an indication Babcock knows at least a couple of hose years are going to be terrible |
