I admitted yesterday I didn't think the Leafs had a chance in hell in landing him, boy I was wrong, an oversight on the 50 million reasons. - LeafMan
The whole Babapalooza tour never made sense if he really thought he was going back to the Wings. After that, it came down to crummy teams that fired coaches, then it came down to crummy teams with money and then it came down to crummy teams with money not located in Buffalo. |

Like with the state of this team, we just need good players at every position.
I do think we are weaker in terms of prospect pool at defense than we are up front, but frankly, they still need everything - TheThrill
Leafs have hired 2 London knight exec lately. They'd know him better than anyone. If they believe in him that's good enough for me. |

The story this morning is more likely. The Leafs were never really out of it, just quiet about it.
They waited to see what other teams would offer before making their own serious offer... once they knew what they were up against.
It is not tough to imagine Shanahan sitting back knowing that he had the green light to beat or match whatever was out there and telling Babcock to give him a final call before signing anything. - Aetherial
Shanny's motto. Will drive the fans and media nuts. But we are much better for it. |

I will take the skill with heart up front.
Take the D-man with the second pick, there are a few in that area that in my opinion will be just as good as Hanifin. |

Percisely. And that is the point. Obviously the leafs had been there all along, no? They flew to Detroit the second he was elimated, they spoke to him at the worlds. Only butthut whiners saying they swooped in last minute. - burn
I honestly think this was pretty much resolved, or at least talked about in depth, a year ago. Shanny and Babcock know each other, no way they waited all the way until three days ago. |

I don't know exactly what happened to Oliver Kylington to make him drop so far, but I think he could be a pretty damn good player too, and could be around at 25.

Likely the only thing they hadn't potentially discussed was the $$$ (I believe that would constitute some form of tampering).
But I could see Shanny laying out the Shanaplan over a beer or two |

For sure, I think it's naïve to think they haven't spoken about this before. I'm sure management, scouts, players, everyone involved in the industry talk all the time. poop like this doesn't just happen in 3 or 4 days.
I'm just hoping Tavares, Stamkos and McDavid have had a chat. |

Anyone know what control Babcock has that Buffalo fans are talking about? What's he now in charge of? |

Oh but he's too small blah blah blah.
Take a skilled forward with the 4th and a dman with the 24th |

Take the BPA (in Dubas and Hunter's eyes) at both spots. Regardless of positions. |

Bob Nicholson was on with McCowan last night talking about how he, Babcock, Holland and Shannahan all had dinner together in Prague. He said they never talked Babcock's decision. Really!? |
