Bob Nicholson was on with McCowan last night talking about how he, Babcock, Holland and Shannahan all had dinner together in Prague. He said they never talked Babcock's decision. Really!?

Yeah, it'll be like talking to a girl with a massive rack and thinking 'Don't look, don't look, don't look'.

Anyone know what control Babcock has that Buffalo fans are talking about? What's he now in charge of?
- walshyleafsfan

I sometimes have a wet dream of a Detroit connection. Kind of like a Kevin Bacon six degrees of separation kind of thing where they are all linked...

Shanahan - Babcock - now Yzerman bolts the Bolts to be our GM and brings Stammer with him in 2016 - might as well back up Brinks trucks to Detroit's scouts homes while we're at it.

I agree with your point, Kadri and Marner are not in the same convo.

But you need to compare them in thier draft year

Kadri 78 points in 56 games 1.39ppg
Marner 2.00ppg

Marner compares to Seguin/Hall at the same age.

- senstroll

no, not a fair comparison.
Kadri being born in October was 7 months older in his draft season than Marner, that makes a lot of difference (in player development).

What I did was not completely fair either though because of the 7month age difference, so would be better to compare Kadri's average production between 2 years (year before draft and his draft year) to Marner's numbers.

Still, Marner will be Leafs' pick if he's still there at 4. (Quite sure Leafs order is 1. McDavid 2. Eichel and 3. Marner).

Glad you agree, the BPA at that spot are the two forwards.
- LeafMan

Why on earth can't Bruce agree with this? I love the guy and all but the poor soul is not thinking straight.

I agree, 7 months is a lot for players at that age.
Its a hard comp to do with a gap like that.

Marner would be great at 4.. but I have no idea who they would take out of the 3

with babcocks reputation for getting the most out of his top players, do Kessel,Phaneuf,Bozak and Lupul get a 2nd chance?

I'd like to see Kessel stay for sure. His value is not gonna drop any lower,
and if we trade him at the deadline about 25 goals and 60 pts, we could get a haul.

- GardinerExpress

you think shanny and babcock want to give these guys not a 2nd chance but a 4th chance? Going back to the 2012 season, 4 epic collapses. No thanks. I don't get how anyone thinks this situation is salvagable. you don't abandon the long term plan because you hired a great coach; just like you don't abandon it if you won connor either.

omg stop drinking... your brain is dying

babs doesnt actually go out onto the ice you know.. (frank) me.. some of you guys are acting like we just signed a 22 year old gretzky

it's amazing. this city is so starved for anything positive that any move is genius. Babcock is great but we're still gonna suck for 4-5 years folks. not hard to get - we sucked for 8 years, now we are trying to suck. it's not going to get better at first. but years from now, it will have all been worth it

But, but Phil Kessel is the greatest 40-goal scorer on earth to have never score 40 goals!!!!!

Also, he was once touted the AMERICAN CROSBY!!!!!!!

I was virtually on my own in here, saying Babcock was coming to TO. Even called foolish by a ref. Which I am still not over.. lol.

I was quite confident on Boucher coming to Toronto as a head coach.
Still hoping he'll be brought in as an assistant, that would be absolutely great.

It's Marner, Hanifin, Strome for me.

Admittedly my opinion is really based on nothing more than what I have read and very little of what I have seen.

I trust that the Leafs scouts will make a more educated pick. There is always some luck component though.

Yo Bixll, Don't forget me.

I'll called this (can't remember for sure) the day Carlyle got fired, or the day Horachek was named interim coach. Interim for who? (frank)ing Mike Babcock, that's who.

But I do not want any praise, please guys stop it, stop it, you're making me blush.

I was saying it last year. All the "He;'ll never leave Detroit" people were foolish. He avoided signing in Detroit for an entire year. What does that tell you?

And San Jose and the Blues, two other "Top Bets" over the Leafs would not have given him 20 million. So no, they weren't ahead of the Leafs ever.

Absolutely, but with this management team in place (with more to come) there's actually going to be a plan, a path to success and a future.
