Man that's a lot of bread to coach...wasted IMO.

We should have let him go to Edmonton..fired in year 3...Leafs pick him up cheap on there way to 1 of many cups in row!!!!!

- Garnie

Good point. We could have kept Horachek and saved lots of MLSE's $

A lot of people would... Myself included.. personally, I'd rather build from the net out.. With that said, I would be happy with any of the three.

Yeah, Burke preached that philosophy. How did that work out?

We know those two are lazy ass players, I'm talking about the the next wave who will have had no influence by the core.
- LeafMan

I don't think it will be earth shattering after those two.

Bozak gone
Lupul if a deal comes through, no issue keeping him
Polak at the deadline
JVR if someone knocks their socks off, doubt he'd be traded though

The rest will run their course, some will leave when their contract is up or as a deadline rental.

I'm excited to see what Babs can do with Kadri and Gardiner because I think they will flourish under Babcock's style.

The goalies should do better with a team in front of them that actually plays a system.

This is not the 1970-1980s anymore.
Current league is very very close, with teams winning cup one year not making playoffs next year WITH (virtually) THE SAME PLAYERS TEAM.

tank to get 3 top 5picks in consecutive years is absolutely no guarantee for good playoff results 5y later, neither is trading away first rounders a guaranteed formula for bad results 5y down the line.
There are various ways how to become competitive and to win, and various ways how to end up failing. It was NEVER an option for the TML organization to have a 5y tank program, NOBODY would accept that and it WILL NOT happen (independent of the fact whether it woudl have been Babcock or an OHL coach being head coach for TML 2015-2016).

- MaximusAurelius

yet we've been a bottom 5 or at least bottom 10 team for 7 of 8 years. i don't wanna suck, it's just inevitable

I was quite confident on Boucher coming to Toronto as a head coach.
Still hoping he'll be brought in as an assistant, that would be absolutely great.

If he came here to run the powerplay, I'd be thrilled!

And not a single Leaf fan cares. It does not count against the cap, so it does not matter.

MLSE has made billions off of Leafs fans. They better spend.

He said that, then promptly traded draft picks that he was going to use to build from the net out for Phil Kessel.

The Leafs lost a third as well, those two first rounders have to be home runs.

I have a feeling that if they are going to truly implement a draft and develop philosophy, they won't move as many people as we think they will this year.

Most likely, they'll keep some of the bigger contracts on the team until a group of prospects is ready to replace them. This would help the big contracts like Phaneuf and Kessel get moved as there would be less term on them, which teams would be willing to take.

Yup, he preached that philosophy, by trading three high draft picks for a winger and signed Komisarek.. Burke definitely stuck to whatever his plan was..

I think Panik might be a surprise player next season with Babcock.

Gardiner and Kadri might also see big improvements.

The third isn't necessarily this year. I believe the Leafs have the choice of that third being one of the next three drafts.

If they believe they have a deep draft this year, and with a higher order, it's almost a second, then they can choose to trade a pick from one of the two drafts after this one.

Which is what I'm afraid of. A 2nd or two, maybe more could damn near be a bonus lock on some extra gems in this draft. Darn sure we could get a few moving out the clowns.

They choose which year. The 3rd is in the next 3 years.
