I have a feeling that if they are going to truly implement a draft and develop philosophy, they won't move as many people as we think they will this year.
Most likely, they'll keep some of the bigger contracts on the team until a group of prospects is ready to replace them. This would help the big contracts like Phaneuf and Kessel get moved as there would be less term on them, which teams would be willing to take. - ILoveLamp
Yeah that's all well and good to say we're not gonna tank were just gonna draft our stars late in the round and develop them into all star NHL players....some years those guys just don't exist. And you've got to be extremely luck to snag more than 1 future core player in the average draft. |

I look forward to Babcock playing Kadri as a #1 center, and him producing the same ppg numbers but actually getting top minutes... and for the loads of leafs fans saying how Babcock fixed Kadri |

Lol, so now they need to work on getting a 2nd rounder, but what can they dangle for it is the question. - LeafMan
Bernier, Lupul or Gardiner might get a second round pick |

and receive better draft picks...making the team better
or finish in 9th...with a great coach and a bunch of knobs who don't care - Garnie
Who knows where they are going to finish next year and what pick they'll get under new lottery. I would rather best coach in hockey instil proper game preparation and commitment to compete habits from the start of this rebuild |

Kadri is by far the best centre on theteam. Why he isn't used more is beyond me. |

Hopefully..
I just get the feeling that Babcock will use the phrase "2 way game" and Kadri would just look at him all confused like and say, "coach, I go one way, I don't swing that way but thanks for the offer" - PatC80
Kadris already done a ton of work on his 2 way game. Guys committed to improving, and I think Babcock could get a lot out of him. |

What position do you honestly think Babcock can coach this Leafs roster to (sans Kessel and Phaneuf)?
You also have to take into account two teams below the Leafs (Buffalo and Edmonton) are now apparently otherworldly. Even if the Leafs are better than 2 other teams from last year like New Jersey and Carolina, they will still be the 4th worst team. - walshyleafsfan

Franson got a 1st FFS.
Those 3 will garner McDavid, Eichel and Hanifin. Then we draft Strome and rebuild over. |

If the trade kessel, Dion, Lupul and Bozak for mostly youth, picks, and salary dumps... No amount of Babgod voodoo will keep them out of the bottom 3.
Leafs picking 4 th or better next year again is my guess - Big_Lightnin
Yeah, I said bottom three. |

Hyperbole, but both teams will be much improved with the injection of elite talent from this draft. No denying that.
Hopefully the Leafs get Marner... A couple of years development and he could be right on their heels |

Gardiner and Kadri might also see big improvements. - Feeling Glucky?

I think Buffalo looks just awful. I'm be very surprised if they're outside the bottom 5.
Edmonton has more young talent to help now. But they still have major issues. |

but according to some on here who love nerdy stats, kadri is 'responsible'.
IMO he's like zoolander, he can't turn left (when left leads back into your own end) |
