He calls trades/hires before they happen, when that always happens he does have inside sources. But believe what you want. - GilPerreault11
Was it the same guy that called the Myers trade? Because if it's the same guy, wow. THAT one blew me away. |

Joke is on Toronto, really. Babcock showed his true colours the past week and you guys can ride his cock all the way to the bab (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bab_%28gateway%29) of hell for all I care.
I'm honestly happier with Eichel and whomever becomes our coach now. Way less media pressure, way less scrutiny. Under the radar is how I likes my Buffalo. - DynamicThreads
Make no mistake about it, I WANTED to see Babcock as the coach of Buffalo. However, if the details are accurate I remember thinking a few things mainly last night:
1) If it really is about control, how is that going to work? I mean could we potentially be looking at a schism between GM and coach down the road? What would that look like?
2) Expectations. Next year, because of this the Sabres are playing with house money. The expectations of the Sabres + Babcock are significantly higher than the expectations of the Sabres + Coach X. I mean the only equivaelnt I can think of in terms of a hotter coach wanting personnel control (and I can only think football really) is Parcels or Holmgren (when he went to Seattle). Without Babcock the Sabres are playing with house money.
Yes this is the stage of acceptance of the consolation prize, but it may be a blessing in disguise. Time will tell. Early predictions, just because of the current state of the Leafs, Babcock doesn't make the full term, heck even to the 5 year opt out period.
But, if he rebuilds it and turns the Leafs into a power house, that guy will be REVERED. Well beyond what he is.
I have NO problem with him using the Sabres offer to increase the Leafs offer. Any one of us would do the exact same thing in our own industry. Numbers aren't so big because 20K people don't buy tickets to what a fat dude like me do IT work for a food service distributor.
Only about 15......

No, it's a guy who has had connections for years on that other site who calls just about every trade and move the Sabres make, he's another guy on another site who doesn't post a lot except when moves are happening. |

Its funny because Canada taxes 50% while the US taxes a little over 25%. He is making WAY less in TO than he would have in Buffalo, and he sounds like a power hungry mongrel.
You are the coach. Know your role and do your job. We dodged a bullet.

Really solid inside guy on another Sabres site who has a Sabres inside source:
Hey guys, I haven't read through the last 15 or so pages, but I wanted to apologize for getting everyone's hopes up.
I heard it was 95% sure Babcock was signing here, days ago.
As it came out, Babcock wanted more control and the Leafs came in and blew everyone out of the water with amount of control and matching Buffalo's dollar amount.
Again, I am really sorry guys. It was all Buffalo until late, late last night.
I am BEYOND SHOCKED he went with the Leafs.
Babcock really fooled everyone by going to Toronto.
I am sorry guys.

It seems to be about all about control if we didn't know that already. - GilPerreault11
It's not about control. Shannahan is running the show. Maybe all the leaks coming out of Sabres front office about the imminent Babcock deal told him all he needed to know about the franchise.

I's not full control for Babcock but he is going to have more personnel control with the Leafs working hand in hand with Shanahan than he was going to get with Murray. |

Well if he doesn't like leaks, hopefully he doesn't watch the TSN twitter line on trade day.....
That would bring the "I haven't pooped in three days" face out in force.

Are you living in (frank)ing 1980? There is no way, in today's social networking/internet society that leaks won't come out about ANYTHING. There was just as much chatter from TO's side anyway. When Ek is calling Babcock to Toronto, someone has some loose (frank)ing lips.

Not all of us (I never wanted him but wouldn't have hated it if we did in fact land him), and I personally thought you guys would be better off moving on. I hope that your AHL coach gets promoted and does a much better job. Either way, I think both our teams are better off. |

This is quite wrong. Especially in top tax brackets there is a slim margin between Canada and the US. Especially New York as the highest taxed state in the US. |

I live in NY and I only get about 20% (maybe less) of my paycheck taken away for taxes and SSI. But top tax brackets. IDK. Last I checked, the rich in America were female doging because we all think they should be taxed more. The lower-incomes are taxed at a much higher rate than the higher incomes. |

Also, only 12% of our income gets taxed in NY. Its still the highest but look it up. |
