We disagree. Bo was traded for a top 10 pick, not a 10-15 pick. Gillis knew exactly what he was getting in the type of character player and skill level he was getting.

Don't get me wrong it has worked out well but it was a gamble, a 9th overall isn't anything close to a sure thing. You are right I shouldn't of called him a mid first he was in the top 10 but IMO 6-30 are much less of a sure thing that 1-5.

Taticek Ruutu,Kahn, Phaneuf, Smid, Lee, Setaguchi, Sheppard, Couture, Bailey, Cowan, Granlund are some examples of recent 2000-2009 9th overall picks.

The only two of note are Courture and Phaneuf with Cowan and Granlund still having a chance of being a good player.

Kessel is a hamburger munching , self centred , miserable , one dimensional player with a horrible cap hit. He is a better scorer than Vrbata, but GMs beware. Do you really want a cancer on your team like that?

Gillis for the most part was a win now GM , he only really started to care about draft picks towards the end when he seen the magic slipping off his so called elite core
