I forgot about Hodgson. He's not well rounded enough to be effective in different roles on the team. He's like the #1 Center that isn't. That being said I don't want Semin either. I just wish Hodgson would go away.

I thought when I posted that most people would just mock me that I was nuts to suggest it, it never crossed my mind that anyone would actually be in favor of moving Hodgson but not be willing to do so for Skinner! And the one guy said he'd rather have Martin Erat?! Has he even watched hockey the past 2 seasons? The Erat trade to Nashville kicked Regier in the nuts... Darcy was on the verge of getting Forsberg for Stafford at that deadline and McPhee turned the table and made the deal with Nashville instead for Erat. That would changed things significantly for this team had the Caps gone with Stafford vs Erat instead.

FYI that was not the trade on the table for the caps and sabres that day. It was ovi for miller stafford plus. Much much bigger trade. They called a press conference when they thought the deal was done, but ended up falling through.

I know we are all sick and tired of watching the total garbage that has been on the ice for 99% of the last two seasons, but I think it would do us all some good if we remembered the team needs to learn to walk before it can run.

Sure, that can be accelerated, but it needs to be done intelligently.

What I would like to see, which would likely differ from the majority of others, is for the team to actually try to win games this year with their own players.

This season should be focused on Girgensons, Eichel, Kane, Ennis, Grigorenko, Larsson, Pysyk, Zadorov, Bogosian, & Ristolainen.

As far as Reinhart, I think he spends time in the AHL to begin the year.

On Hodgson, I am not sure where he even fits with the team, but unless they buy him out or get some kind of good return for him in a trade, he should be played.

I'd have Hodgson play top 6 minutes with Moulson and Girgensons and see what he can do, if he is going to be on the team this year.

I'd roll a 3rd line of Foligno, Larsson, Grigorenko and see what they can do.

This team, just for trying and having actual talent, as opposed to the past two seasons, could finish 15-20 points better in the standings and still finish in the bottom 7-10, which is not the worst thing for the future of the team.

In short, I do not want shortcuts in this team progressing.
