Great point...We have an extremely young team and I still think out pick next year will be in the top 8. IMO our first round pick next year could be the most important. We have a figure of what our "core" will be and a top pick next year could be that extra bonus for a winger or trade piece

Did we? We still haven't even made the selection using the pick we go for vanek.


We got more pieces, which gives us a better shot at landing high quality players but we won't be able to see that as soon as next year.

Trying to predict how long a rebuke will take is like trying to predict the weather next December right now. It's pointless. LA didn't even make playoffs this year. You have to play the games and see what happens.

Plus; what defines when a rebuild is complete? Making playoffs? Winning the cup. I don't think it's something specific. I think it's having a definite identity and winning culture.

It's funny that this has never crossed anyones mind but there are in fact rebuilds that are done right but ultimately don't lead to a stanley cup.
