As the self-proclaimed president of the "Please stop hiring folkheroes club", it's not going to make that much of a difference. No team that wants to even pretend to be taken seriously should have Ted Nolan behind the bench, but there's no coach out there that would make the Sabres 20 wins better.

I just don't think it's worth mortgaging the future for an 8th place run. Trading for Kane and Bogosian at least has the benefit of being potentially good both short and long term.

But once you start dealing assets for 30 year olds who are past it just to sniff the playoffs you've put yourself in a bind.
