I'm not saying we want a team entirely of kids, but I don't see how signing 3rd line quality UFAs to overpriced deals helps us win a Cup.
If anything...
Signing those type of players will slow the development of some of our young players by taking away their icetime, for the length of the long-ish contract we'd have to sign them to.

Both teams came back from otherwise insurmountable odds.

And look at Tampa in the east. Obviously they're going to be the team to beat in our division for years to come.
Montreal will be good as long as they have Price.
Babcock is dumb for going to Toronto. Datsyuk & Zetterberg might be getting up there, but they have good young players & quite a few nice prospects. They aren't missing the playoffs any time soon.
Florida has a lot of talented youth as well. They'll continue to push for a playoff spot.

Boston is on the decline though & are in big trouble with the Cap.
Not too worried about Ottawa, and the Leafs will stink even with Babcock. Still can't believe he did that.

To me, looks like Boston & Florida are gonna be the teams we compete with for that Wild Card spot in our division for the next few years.
