Pittsburgh was the best team in the league at one point until they got killed with injuries.
Letang
Ehrhoff
Maatta
Dupuis
Hornqvist
Martin
Bennett
All missed a lot of time
They had Ben Lovejoy as a top pairing D man in the playoffs - sbroads24

umm.... no, they wouldn't have.
Put any coach behind that bench, with that roster they weren't winning anything more than bronze. - Sabresfan-365
completely disagree and we're going to fight because you're Canadian of course you're going to say that |

there's a reason why he doesn't have a job right now one is probably all of the general managers saw his disaster of the USA Hockey team and how he made no changes in the playoffs to help his team |

I will never forgive him for his disaster of the USA Hockey team red flags up everywhere after that - gerbe75pts
Honestly? What do you really expect out of US hockey each year compared to Canada? The Canadian player pool is MUCH deeper than that of USA, so you expect the US to simply "out-coach" the Canadians when they're already being out-matched year after year? The Americans gave Canada a good run at the last Olympics for what kind of roster was being compared. It's not like it was a complete scoring blow out, nor was Bylsma being out-coached.
Again, I don't understand the Bylsma hate that is actually justified and not "Well I don't like Bylsma because he's not Babcock."

you clearly don't remember all the boneheaded decisions he made I mean every American fan probably pulling out their hair and the bronze medal game he just threw away the game he didn't care he could have gave the team a boost he just threw the white flag and let quick get killed in net and the team responded by not playing and caring

So you blame the coach for the team not caring? If you're a professional athlete and you can't get motivated to play hard for your country in a medal game then there's not much a coach can do for you. |

The Oil have given Todd Nelson permission to find an NHL job. I'd rather see his name than any of these three. |

They're all good candidates in their own right. I know Nelson did some good things in OKC but I don't know a ton about him or if he would be a good NHL coach. Maybe he's better suited as a top flight assistant? It took me a while to warm up to Bylsma but Granato was his assistant in Pitt and he might be looking for work now. I always liked Teppo.
I really like MacLean too.
My two cents.

You do realize he wasn't the head coach of USA at this year's world championship, right? And I wasn't pulling out my hair with his coaching decisions. It was a tough even battle until the end. It was nerve wrecking because of the level of that gold metal game, not "poor coaching". |

Okay then, loses 1-0 to world class Canadian team. Has same number of Stanley cups as Babcock. Yup, your argument holds up. There are better coaches out there. |

He should've pulled a top-3 goalie in the league on the world stage? That American team was pathetic, anyway.
I'll give him a pass. I'd rather have Paul MacLean though. |

Yes we can say he won the cup considering he beat the very same coach you can't get over. But if you want to use some ass-backwards logic, then the same can be said about Babcock regarding being "given a cup". |
