Yes we can say he won the cup considering he beat the very same coach you can't get over. But if you want to use some ass-backwards logic, then the same can be said about Babcock regarding being "given a cup". - awildmudkip
Or Quenville, he inherited a very good team one year and won the next. They then get in cap problems and don't win the cup the next year? Does that make Q a scrub? |

That's also Chicago's GM being smart and drafting well without selling off draft picks/prospects for bad wingers. |

IMO, the players make the coach in most circumstances and Pitt hasn't had the quality depth needed to win the cup and that wasn't Bylsma fault. Similar to LA this year, the ran into issues on the back end and had to play 3 former Sabres consistently. The result was missing the playoffs. A coach can definitely screw it up but if you don't have the horses your not going to win. |

I think there's a number of good coaching candidates out there.
As far as Bylsma goes...
I'd be fine with him as a coach. I'd be fine with someone else though too.
I certainly don't blame him for Pitt ONLY winning one Cup.
That was on Fleury constantly crapping the bed. If they even got average goaltending, Pitt would've had much more success.
That's more on the GM imo

I'm sorry it just pisses me off thinking about it - gerbe75pts
I think you're putting way too much stock into a very small sample size.
But anyways...
Who do u want as a coach? |

Pitt has depth offensively, defensively is a completely different story. |

I could look it up, but I figured I'd ask.
Was Granato an assistant to Bylsma, and, if so, who was/were his other(s)?
Thanks. |

From the previous blog...
I like Kerby Rychel, but we have a few prospects that play similar style games in Baptiste & Bailey
Any time u get a chance to acquire talent, of course u should consider it. But I'm also weary of trading away defense right now. We don't have much depth, especially on the left side.
I hope we pick a defenseman at 21 & 31 (if we don't trade the picks), and maybe even a few more. We need to rebuild our depth at that spot so we can make trades, since everyone is always looking for defense.

Spector posted that the Pens are trying to get back into the 1st round and he lists the Sabres as one of the teams having 2 1st rounders. |

That's nice? I don't really have a burning desire to make a deal with Pittsburgh. They don't really have a deep prospect pool and their roster wingers are meh. |

You have that backwards. Their forward depth is a joke. Especially in their pipeline. They have quite a few good young D men |

Their depth at center is fine. They were down Maata and Letang and had who on the depth chart? Now look at the Sabres depth. I feel a little bit more at ease if say Bogosian or Risto go down. |

Granato was an assistant under Bylsma from 2009 till he was fired last year. I think Jacques Martin was an assistant with Bylsma as well. |

Coaches are overrated in professional sports.
It is all about the players, IMO. |

Just a hunch but I think it'll be MacLean or Bylsma. |

MacLean is a bad Head coach, he didn't do very much with the Sens. Coach of the year and the fired, we can do better. I wouldn't mind disco Dan. |

Not sure we're good trading partners.
I doubt they wanna give up any of their young defensemen.
Maybe Sutter? But I think if they move him they'd want someone who can play now, not in a few years.
Kasperi Kapanen is a RW prospect of theirs I like, but idk if I like him any better than Baptiste or Bailey. And he's kinda small, like 5'10, 175lbs. They'd obv have to like whoever they could pick at 21 better than him for that trade to happen. I believe he was picked right around that spot.
Is their someone from them you'd like that makes sense? |
