All I'm saying is, don't trade for him unless it's guaranteed he signs. Those kind of things can be worked out with agents and be a contingent to a trade - TheSabresTaco
if its a sign and trade maybe that's going to cost us more and I would pass for sure |

Forget about Dustin Brown.
Martin Jones, see, now you're onto something. I bet he could be had for a 2nd. - TheSabresTaco
Dustin Brown would be a nice mentor for Girgensons.
And speaking of native New Yorkers...
How about swapping the NYI 1st rd pick to Detroit, for Jimmy Howard?
I could live with that. |

They're not trading their captain. And for what they'd want us to pay, it's definitely not worth it. He'll be all but washed up in a year or two.
Brian Gionta is every bit the mentor Dustin Brown is. |

You do know these guys have contracts and there's a cap right?
They may as well just offer sheet Galchenyuk, at least that has sort of a chance of working out for us. |

Sabers have something like $25-$35 mill in cap room... And they might even buy out Hodgson yet!
Why be worried about the cap? |

I've always said Ward is over rated. Never been a fan of his. |

4 first rd picks (compensation) for a team up against the cap?
TJ Oshie then goes on to fill Tersenko's spot.

Because when you give up half of it for Dustin Brown and Jimmy Howard you find yourself stuck trying to re sign Reinhart, Kane, Eichel, Ristolainen.. guys with actual value. |

You know there's this thing called compensation right, where they will get 4 first round picks. For this team, that's nothing short of (frank)ing stupid. |

Because at some point guys like Girgensons, Reinhart, Risto, etc are going to get nice pay increases. No point in handcuffing ourselves in the future juse because there's plenty of space this year. |

Just for the record, Sabers have $27 mill in cap space.
