I was in the mood for a good laugh, and some of the trade proposals in here did the trick. Markstrom for the 31st overall? this is a guy that cleared waivers last year, and stunk yet again at the NHL level. Van would be lucky to get a 4th for him.

He had a great season in the AHL last year....one of the leagues best.

The thing is they have plenty of assets to change that immediately. They could trade for an OEL Weber Phanuef or Edler. They have enough cap space to hire a UFA like Martin or Green. There are FA goalies or trade for one and a winger if they need

There certainly is....but I wouldn't go after a Center unless we somehow traded RNH for a D man.....if Inwanted to add, + shake up the teams foundation in a big way, I would at least try something like this:

Trade RNH + our 33rd and Nikta Nikitin to LA for Drew Doughty , Martin Jones and Mike Richards.

( if my Math is correct we take on about 1 mill in Salary....we take all of Richards salary).

Trade the 16th , Teddy Purcell and Greg Chase to San Jose for Joe Thornton.

(+2 mill?)

Trade Andrew Ferrence and Jordan Eberle to Boston for Milan Lucic and a 3rd.
( -4 mill ?)
Trade Montreals 2nd, our 2016 1st, Ben Scrivens and Mitch Moroz to St.Loo for Brian Elliot and Jay Boowmeester
( +6 million?)

Contracts are the key for the Oilers, more specifically, term. We have to hope that Yak, LD, Nurse and McDavid will command big raises by then....not to mention Klefbom and whatever goalie will play here.

That's the conundrum. We can't move Nuge as we need him to shelter McD ....but Draisaitl is probably the better option at 2C in the western conference, specially the Pacific. Tough decisions ahead.

Maybe the Oilers should wait until we can depend on McD and LD before we move Nuge?
