Especially when they could get another Blackhawks Starter

Crawfords contract is looking scary too.

Kids these days are so much better prepared to make the jump.

Now that Virtanen is playing on the Comets , do you really see him being sent back to Jr? This team needs big hits , something he does. I can see him making the Canucks next year . I don't think that is being unrealistic

Hansen Lack Shink for 21 st 31 st
Burrows Vrbata to Mtl for 26 th 87

21 st pick Meloche
23 Rd pick Dergachev
26 th pick Kylington
31 St Greenway

ok, you're kidding, right? the first deal is bad enough but the second one is outright robbery for the Habs. You feel that a 30 goal and 20 goal scorer (with all sort of intangibles - not to mention one of Vancouver fans' favourite players) could only fetch a 20th and 87th pick?. If that's the only returns, you'd be ridden out of town forthwith

Corrado is an ok piece but I am not sure they want Miller
- VANTEL

I think they want a different netminder and that isn't to far fetched an offer.

We forget Nuckers Subban factor. If we trade a RH D "Bieksa" Subban could be the Dark Horse to make it. Everyone is focused on the forward kids and we haven't entertained the defence lately.

Yeah I read it. Not going to happen.

I laughed at the Phanuef offer

I would not be surprised if they were both Leafs again next year.

sarcasm duly noted. I maintain that Burrows and Vrbata will get you a much better return than just the 87th and 20th pick. Both are perhaps a little bit past their prime but both are still quality players and I am sure we could do quite a bit better. Perhaps you have a comparable, though without resorting to sarcasm?

It would be hard pressed to get athe Habs first for Vrbata , so I sweetened the deal . Burrows by himself would be worth a second but very few teams are offering up their second round picks for aging mediocre players.

If you are not willing to give up something Vrbata will play second line on the Canucks and score around 20 goals and Burrows will move up and down the roster and score 15 goals and we are no further ahead than we were last year except we have aged another year

I think we are forgetting the fact that's $9MM in salary heading to MTL. Have to take a contract back

Ok, so Radim Vrbata (30 goals scored - 13th in the NHL) is a mediocre player? (more goals than Crosby, Malkin, Toews etc etc etc). Interesting definition of a mediocre player.

As far as Burrows, we've had this talk ad naseum, he has a lot of intangibles and is still decent at putting the puck in the net. Moreso he's an agitator and super pest which you can't quantify. Considering these elements, he is not an average player either.

It's easy to just categorize players to fit within your trading proposals but at some point you have to face the reality that you can't be throwing away your assets for 87th type picks (who 1) may not ever pan out 2) if they do pan out it, you don't know to what extent 3) it will take at least another 5-6 years to see any appreciable improvement to the point of being a roster player)

If you can't get more for Burrows and Vrbata than one not bad draft pick (i.e. your 20th proposal) and a fairly useless 87th pick then you shouldn't be managing in this league. I'm not saying these players are non-touchables but I don't want them virtually given away either. Change for the sake of change is not a philosophy I want to see

I was referring to Burrows as a mediocre player not Vrbata , but Vrbatas value will drop as the year goes on seeing he won't be playing with the Twins

As much as Canuck fans and mgmt see value in Burrows , other managers and fan bases don't see the same value. They see an aging player with inflated numbers because of the twins

Okay, mercedes? bimmers? at least an Audi R8?

Still doesn't deter from the metaphor. People want wholesale change and are willing to trade solid assets off for lottery tickets. Any GM worth a damn would smell the desperation from a mile away, and the Canucks would get sodomized.

The real metaphor should be is Burrows is your old reliable 1999 Volvo that should be sold for 1000 and you are asking 10 times the amount . In two more years you will be lucky to sell it for 35 dollars

Vrbata is your 2007 Honda CRV
