Is Cole Cassels considered an over-ager? The same as Dane Fox was his last year of jr. or was Fox a year older? |

Just took a look around the net for stats on who is considered a 'puck hog'.
It seems the best metric is to use something similar to ‘Fenwick attempted’ and compare that to shots taken per player line.
No surprise that OV ranks the highest. Rick Nash, Jeff Carter, Phil Kessel, Evander Kane, and David Booth rank high as puck hogs.
Stephen Weiss, Brandon Prust, Joe Thornton, and Henrik Sedin rank as some of the non-puck hogs. |

I heard it had something to do with running out of women to cheat on his wife with. - Retinalz
Guy didn't like to pass to his team mates but had not issue making a pass on their wives...
His photo bombing phase was weird too, guys looked uncomfortable, looked like he had some pr firm telling him he had to be more likable or something. |

Curious to know how many Tanev had - VANTEL
Tanev and Vey should never be judged on hits.
Tanev plays like Hjlamarsson on the Hawks, very good with positioning and the pokecheck, blocks a ton of shots, etc.
Vey needs to generate offense or he's useless.

Nope, both Subban and Cassels were a year younger than Fox. An overage player is basically a player who is eligible to play in the AHL but gets sent back down to juniors for their last year of eligibility. |

Funny how Sbisa and Bieksa were two of our worst defensemen as well....maybe they just had a cold streak that lasted like 60-80 games and will bounce back. They're so tough! |

ahhh.
So Cassels could stay in jr. next season or play ahl/nhl? (don't expect him back in jr.)
Hope he works on his skating and pushes for that 4th line c job. |

I really wish we got a better deal for him though, instead of sbisa/bones gotten another 1st from them |

I honestly thought Sbisa was a cap dump in that deal but clearly he's someone Benning actually wanted and I bet Murray was pumped about it since Gillis likely never even brought him up in their trade discussions.
Bonino can still be flipped for a valuable young asset. He has more value to a contending team that's up against the cap than he does to the Canucks. |

Here are some more comparable #'s
Duncan Keith had 19
TJ Brodie had 27
Matt Carle had 26
Daley had 29
Brodin had 31
Hjarlmarsson had 39
Obviously some of these guys are Offensive first guys but they are all top 4 and most are in the same pay range as Tanev. |

Brodin and Hjalmarsson are comaparable. We should ask Minny and CHI fans if they're pissed that they don't hit more. |

Not sure if that was eastern conference bias or something- a name he was familiar with?
It is disappointing and as you mentioned about Bonino, good cap hit, he only has a couple more seasons before he is ufa. Depending on where we are at tdl, he might be on the move then or next summer. |

Overage is also different than the term over-age that gets thrown around.
It is an overage, as in an abundance or surplus not over the age restriction.
Teams are allowed up to 3 overage players, and they tend to be guys who are undrafted but are either leaders or useful for a playoff push even if they likely wont ever be NHLers. |

Bonino and a late 1st for Kesler was a no-brainer for a contending team that had plenty of cap space. Again, tough spot for Benning but had he actually gotten an asset like a "B" level prospect or even a 2nd instead of a bad defensemen the deal would look better right now.
Sbisa would be like #8 on their depth chart, yet some Canuck fans still think he's a decent #4 or #5 guy |

Yeah, and what's scary is that if Mackenzie Stewart would get sent back to the WHL next year or had remained unsigned, I don't think his junior team would even consider him valuable enough to keep him as one of their overage players. |

Exaclty, I really thought the Brodin and Hjalmarsson contracts would be the blueprint for Tanev's contract.
Tanev got a bit more but only by a couple 100K, it would of been nice for Benning to of saved that cap but he tends to overpay on all his contracts. |

I can live with overpaying by about 250K, but not 3 million......
Yet it seemed like there was more rage about Tanev's deal than Sbisa's on this site. |

I'm curious who taught Sbisa what to do with the puck when he has it deep in our end and looking to break out? The crap he was trying to pull off wouldn't work in peewee's. What's wrong with glass and out or a simple shoulder check to see how much time you have once in a while? |

I'm not sure what he's thinking, the guy is just a dumb hockey player. You can't fix that. |
