A first pairing has to generate scoring chances and results. Between the two of them they have to figure out how to do it. If your first pair are just defenders then that will dictate how your night is going to be
- VANTEL

Precisely.

Your first pairing should be more offensive to provide results but there will be defensive liabilities with that philoshophy that most teams can live with a la Salo and Ehrhoff...not all teams can have a Keith/Seabrook.

Your second pairing should provide secondary scoring (outside of the 1st PP) and contribute sometimes on 2nd PP unit. Plus be a tad more defensive and physical than the first pairing if possible. Intimidation and punishing hits.

Your third pairing is kind of like the fourth line mentality. Shut down guys like Tanev and one more of a more physical nature, maybe a scrapper...but shut down guys that are great for line matching.

I like Tanev as well but all I ask is that he slots in where he should. He is a 4-6 slot guy in the Western Conference not a 1-3 guy. On the Flames for eg. he would be 5-6. On our team he is top 2 cause we have no choice right now...but when and 'if' we build our D properly, Tanev should be 4-6.

You know most of the great #1 pairings have a shutdown guy and a offense guy. How much hockey do you watch?

Best plus-minus on a team that is currently playing in the Conference Final and we let him go for virtually nothing. Even more of a kick in the cockle region knowing the return was essentially Vey who, at this moment in time, is seemingly the yang to Sbisa's yin

Cole Cassels sure is fun to watch.

Guy plays an NHL style game.

McCann played OK but didn't impress nearly as much as Cassels has done in the playoffs.

Mccann never went into the corners on the games I watched.

Cassels loves the corners and the cycle game.

Yeah Oshawa is clearly the best team in the Memorial cup

Like the announcers said every time Oshawa makes just the tiniest mistake it ends up in their net.

They let off the gas pedal for literally 3 to 5 minutes each game and the other team scores all their goals in that time frame.

They've outshot every team 2-1. They are on pace to win the tourney and allow less the 100 shots.

Honestly. The Generals have actually had fairly bad puck luck in every name

They have nice top end talent but Oshawa has better depth and plays a better team game.
