Lack isn't that good, he's a backup goalie imo. If teams value him as a starter, best to trade him now and get the most for him. - Scooby_Doo

I think Lack will be the easiest to move of the 3.
Lack has looked good to great at times but I can't remember a Canuck goalie in the last 15 years or so that hasn't let in a few softies now and then.
I'd take either Miller or Lack in net next season and just hope we get something back from whomever is moved. |

Puck Daddy on why Bob Murray should be GM of the year...
"Murray basically transformed his team into a contender with one trade (bringing the aforementioned Mr. Kesler to Anaheim in exchange for very little)"
Glad to help! |

We got Sbisa back, not sure how he could say "very little". |

I was never his biggest fan because he ALWAYS let in a soft goal per game, however, he seemed to get rid of that habit his last 30 games or so.
I'd still trade him first because of his perceived value around the league. Getting rid of Millers cap hit would be nice, but I like how the team plays in front of him. |

They got Bonino, Sbisa, McCann & Dorsett (with Ducks 3rd rnd pick) - hopefully Bonino can be flipped for something and McCann turns out to be a steal. Kesler earned that NTC, and he used it to his full advantage.

Millers cap hit shouldn't matter the next couple years if the Canucks retool the right way. |

I agree...team plays with more confidence with Miller in the crease. Miller was playing pretty well most of the season (minus a few horrific games) and he was then derailed by injuries. I still think he is a top 10 starter if healthy. Lack played well but I do t have enough confidence in him to be the "guy" all year. Hopefully we can get an early 2nd round pick for Lack as Miller likely has no trade value. |

It would be nice to add Belesky or Soderberg in free agency. Perhaps if Soderberg was acquired we could move Bonino to the wing. Friedman mentioned that Belesky could command $5MM which is insane. $3.5MM-$4MM. Might make sense. |

Didn't Beleskey play with either Getzlaf/Perry or Kesler for most of the season, which inflates his stats? I would rather resign Matthias. |

Why would anyone sign with the Canucks, they are not a contender. It would be an overpayment and I don't want any player that signs here just for the money. |

Thinking of the goalie controversy. i read one reason Miller signed here is because we told him we were still planning to be contenders. Our playoff run showed that we will not be that within the next 2 years so he may want out to go to one. |

I think its a factor on a small scale. If Miller wants out he will be moved. JB won't hesitate to pull a trigger. |

I agree that Lack will be the easiest but that doesn't IMO make him the best to move.
I don't understand the sentiment that trading Lack now because the return will be marginally better than Miller or Markstrom.
Lack's value realistically will only continue to grow where Millers will continue to decrease, even if lack ends up being moved out in a few years it makes more sense to hold on to him until then.
If the goal is to make the playoffs and compete for the Cup, Lack has performed better than Miller over the past 2 seasons.
If the goal is to get younger and let the kids grow, Lack makes more sense as he is just entering his prime.
Unless Lack is going to get an overwhelming return which is doubtful I don't see the point in moving him. It is bad asset mgmt to move the younger, better option.

I don't see canucks making moves for FA that will cost that much, probably save the cap for RFA's |

I havent given up on Bonino. And lets keep in mind here that Kesler said he wont play for this organization and narrowed it down to two teams that he would go to.
Ironically hes playing the other option in the WCF right now.
Benning had to pull the trigger. He had no choice.
Im not big on Sbisa either. But I did see him make strides towards the end of the year that were promising. top four not likely. But he did improve his game, And I think Lidster had a lot to do with that. |

3-4 four years ago we could say lets give this guy and that guy away to get this guy.
The only people we're moving now are vets for picks and prospects. I have finally given up on the re-tool/Restructure.
Lets just break it down already.
I want to see a winning team and their are no retooling or restructuring that could fix it.
This team may very well be playoff bound next year. But thats it. Lucky if we hit the second round. Just end it already.
Only issue is, its a business. And when it comes to business, their has to be a giver and a taker. If you want to get decent assets for what we want to give out then their likely wont be many takers. |
