Soooo, we've got a possible HC candidate that was very successful at his first stop.
Said coach got canned as many critics pointed to his unwillingness to change as the major reason behind his dismissal. Said coach is labeled as an intense student of the game and a great communicator.
He's had a year off to (hopefully) take a look at some of his weaknesses. I like his chances of correcting these and being a damn fine coach for the Sabres. |

Crosby and Malkin along with other so called "star players " on the Pens seem to disappear in the playoffs, always have as does Fleury but it's Bylsma's fault ? |

Crosby and Malkin average over a point per game in the playoffs. |

You could do much, much worse than Bylsma. |

I'll continue to wait for an intelligent rebuttal. Facts are tough to argue with sometimes, I know. - Homer
He did make it to 3 cup finals from 02/03-08/09 and been to the WCF during the same time frame.
When he took over the Ducks he improved them 26 points from the previous season.

I think people believe Bylsma had more to work with in his time in Pittsburgh. Not saying that Detroit doesn't have some great players, but some of those guys are getting older.
The 12/13 Penguins team was really the final straw for me. That team was cup worthy........and they got swept in the ECF.
Dan made his first tactical adjustment in game 3. The final two games were very close, but waiting 'til game 3 was tragic. Dan didn't change the PP personnel (they couldn't sniff a goal) until the second to last PP of the entire series. Meanwhile, Iggy never once got a chance on the #1 unit. It was stunning. |

If he is a sharp hockey mind from Pittsburgh, and Im sure he is, then why did he say on WGR today how good a coach and what a good job he did when in Pittsburgh and everybody on here wants to tell me he isn't a very good coach. Does everybody know more than this Gretz guy? Seems like it. - Homer

guy is a waste of a coach, he gets canned everywhere he goes. He had no business winning a cup when he was with Dallas. That Fat Pig won't get one with the Blues either. |

It's been 9 years since Lindy won a round. - dadeadhead
I was impressed with what Lindy did in the playoffs last year. He just hit a hot goaltender and a team that was supposed to wipe the floor with them. The way that Roussel and Garbutt got to Perry and Getzlaf should have been the playbook for any team in the playoffs moving forward.
Perry finally snapped, but they have been composed most of these playoffs. Why teams aren't pushing their buttons more has been beyond me. |

"I don't understand how Dan could ever get another HC job if the general manager is doing detailed due diligence on the guy. After the cup year, he repeatedly got his ass handed to him in the playoffs. It was obvious."
I'd day that qualifies as saying he is a bad coach.

Believe is the key word. Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Lidstrom is pretty damn good. |

Babcock has also had a huge role in developing young talent in Detroit, and put a ton of players in a place to succeed.
Another knock on Bylsma is that he hasn't been able to do that |
