I honestly have no idea whom the Sabres should hire except someone with NHL experience, knows the game, can implement more than one system based on the players he has, CAN DEVELOP YOUNG PLAYERS, has been successful. can manage a game, Isn't too old, isn't a players coach but isn't a dictator either, approachable; can bring with him solid assistants. |

Obviously not Yost but this isn't the year for the Sabres to sign anyone to offer sheets . If Taffoli is not matched then they lose a 1st next year which is going to be high, maybe even in the lottery. Wait until their 1st is late teens - 20's to offer sheet anyone I say. - GilPerreault11
Especially considering the lottery odds are being "smoothed out" (if not for the fact that we were the worst team in the entire league the past 2 years)...
We might even come to find that the likes of Reinhart, Larrson, & Grigorenko; are better served in Rochester this yr.
I'd be patient with this rebuild still. Our top 6, all-star, goalscoring, RW'er of the future, can surely be obtained with the #5th overall pick next yr?
The one obvious chip we have (this off season) is the NYI first rd pick... We're already going to be loaded with "prospects", this club needs to flip that pick into a legitimate NHL player @ RW or G.
-Trade a late 1st rd'er to Van, for Eddie Lack. And sign UFA Justin Williams @ RW?
or
-Trade a late 1st rd'er to Car, for Jeff Skinner. And sign UFA Mikahel Nuiverth @ G?

Bylsma didn't "walk the walk"? He played over 400 games in the NHL. - grand-magus
Did i say anything about "Bylsma not walking the walk"? Or are you reading into what you wanted to read?
What I said (regarding Bylsma) is that he's soft & quiet... Kinda like Richard Juron. |

An NHL experienced, Stanley Cup winner is Ron Rolsten-esque? It's the glasses, right? - GilPerreault11
Nope.
It's that he's a quiet little mouse behind the bench.
Not my style. |

The Sabres could hire Jesus Christ himself and some on this site would complain his hair is too long. |

While hilighting Richardson's "attributes", you said he walked the walk, as if that was an advantage over Bylsma.
But, so did Bylsma, which you failed to recognize.
And since when have you been in the presence of Dan Bylsma in a locker room? |

Oh, can get along with GMTM, knows he's the coach, not the GM. |

This is why I think getting a guy like Blashill or Richardson might be the better route. Murray seems to have his own vision, and it didn't mesh with Lafontaine or Nolan, other guys with bigger personalities |

Some people have to take the unpopular argument ALL THE TIME on here for whatever reason. They have to play devils advocate or something. I understand it, in my graduate glasses I did the same thing. Most of the time I actually had some reason to argue because everythig was blatantly liberal |

Last time I was there was when I saw U there I think...
I think now it's obvious you missed the point of that post. Like I said, you seem to have selective reading maybe?
I was simply illustrating that Luke Richardson has more current experience coaching young NHL prospects than Bylsma.... Making him a good fit for our young roster.
But also noting that his long NHL career (longer than Bylsma if u really want to measure peckers) still gives him some street cred w/ the Vets, even tho he doesn't have an NHL coaching resume. AND I pointed to his former working relationship with Tim Murray, as being a "plus" in his favor. |

I think Nolan has a bigger trend of not getting along with his GM's; Murray wasn't even here long enough for it to be his fault with LaFontaine it was the structure and tank that irked him. LaFontaine also has a history of taking his ball and going home after a short period of time. |

1 week ago, not one person cared or had an opinion on Bylsma, after the Babcock desicion, it's the only name people know now.
The fan boy attitude is just as predictable as the unpopular view.
Mark my words, if Bylsma turns us down, 75% of the people backing him will change their tune quicker than you could believe |

C'mon dude...
Did Bylsma "win the Cup" or did Crosby, Malkin, and the most talented roster in the league (at the time) "win the Cup"?
Don't be a tool. Use ur head.
YOU could have coached that team to the Cup!
Quit blowing Bylsma. |

Nope.
Don't claim to be a coaching expert.
Putting credence into Richardson being a better fit because he coaches kids? If I want that, I'll hire him to coach Rochester.
The man has never coached in the NHL. Advantage: Bylsma.

Personally, I'd rather go with an rising coach like Hynes, Blashill, or Richardson since we can't land Babcock. If we hire Bylsma, I won't be dissapointed, and I won't be excited. I feel he's a Lindy clone. Lot of the same attributes I see in both of them.
And I will say, I'm not by any means a coaching expert, I fact I think that's the area I know the least about |
