Think Arizona and St. Louis would go for those? - dbell646
No idea, but STL is loaded with C's and their D is Pieterangelo and JayBo. Taresenko will be looking at 6+....So if this dude comes back then yeah I think they will dump him for a promising D prospect.
Other than trading 71, I really cant think of many other realistic options that help hte Pens. |

I think there is a 0% chance Ehfhoff would be signing another 1 year contract. This was a prove it year for better or worse. He is going to want a long term contract and I can't blame him. - jfkst1
Yea, I gave it like a 2% chance because he's essentially already on a long term contract from buffalo. Isn't he getting paid for like the next 10 years? And also assuming he/his family loved Pittsburgh. But I do agree, he will look for a 5 year deal somewhere else.
Anyone see that article about the Pens and Mike Green? Don't freak out, its not a rumor, just a random blogger pointing him out as a top4 FA d-man option. For the same contract would you rather have Green or Franson? Or pay more for Petry/Sekera (guessing they would cost more). For the record, my vote would be Green but rather go for none of the above. |

I'd be willing to do both those trades. I just have my doubts either of the other clubs would be willing to. Are teams allowed to complete trades now or do they have to wait until the new season officially starts? |

if sutter is still a free agent at the deadline and kesler a is still a free agent I like this. sutter - cole for kesler. move geno to wing and kesler to second line center go from there. |

I believe they can always do trades any time of the year... The reason the trade deadline exists, is that players traded after that time are not eligible for the postseason on the team they go to.
Of course, no team really makes moves until the season is completed anyway, for now its a lot of talking shop and pursuing FAs and such. |

Thanks! I just looked up Arizona's depth chart. Sutter might actually be very attractive to them. |

So we got some head coaching news...
SJ hires Peter DeBeor according to LeBrun
Friedman reporting that Bylsma is in Buffalo today
TIOPS reporting that it is either BUF or bust for Bylsma and a deal would happen in the next 24 hours.

On the same contracts I'd probably rather go with Green because I think he is better. But it's close. Franson has the age and health advantage. He could still improve his play and Green is a known value. I wouldn't want either unless they for some inexplicable reason would take below market value contracts.
I think Sekera ends up getting the most. He has no injury concerns, is in his prime, and proven capable of top pairing minutes. I see Green and Franson getting similar contracts for cheaper than Sekera and Petry below theirs. |

I'm sure I'll be burned at the stake with this one... But a D I would target would be a guy like Barrett Jackman out of St.Louis if he could be had on a 2 year deal at 3 per. I think he's got some muscle and a physical edge our D currently lacks and would be a good, trustworthy, responsible partner for Pouliot on the second pair. He's an upgraded version of Lovejoy/Scuderi+ Physicality..... But with that being said, having Scuderi and Lovejoy on the roster would make a guy like Javkman redundant even though he would represent an upgrade. But say somehow we rid ourselves of Scuds..

I threw this idea out a while ago.
Use Sutter+BB to get Boedker, Dumo to get Berglund.
STL will need to free space for Taresenko's new contract and their D looks shaky. - sammy87
I don't mind both of those moves. May have to sweeten the STL deal a bit though.....but I would prefer Craig Smith out of Nashville over Boedker

Has anyone heard that if another team signs Bylsma that the Pens will seek a draft choice as compensation? |

I don't think they officially said either way. Rumor is they won't ask they just want him off the books. |

I've heard it both ways... hell, I've even heard they might try to package a player with that signing as well to up the value to "earn" the 3rd to a 1st. |

NSH needs centers. I could see them valuing Sutter.
EDIT: Though honestly, they need to keep their wingers too. I could see them willing to part with Ekholm or Ellis for Sutter though. |

I'd take Ellis or Ekholm for Sutter. NSH is probably the only team with more than four top 4 capable dmen entering next season. I'd imagine they gotta move one of them. I've heard rumors about Jones to EDM but that would have to be a massive package to get Poile to unload him. |

Not sure they would. But it doesn't make sense to relegate Jones/Ellis/Ekholm to a reduced role either when they have other holes on the roster. |

Good points... I would be really upset if we go the retread route. 30 is my absolute cut off age.
Per that TIOPS report (likely pure BS) GMJR wants a bigger, physically dominant, good at puck battles and net front type of winger.
combining that with your first list, I wonder if Pouliot + 2016 1st + Sutter (not intentionally mocking the staal trade but oh well) gets us in the ballpark of any of JvR, Kane, Simmonds, ROR, Lucic, etc. - YouMeAndDupuis9
Pouliot alone is worth most of those guys and most of those guys are WAY over paid, with all the wheeling an dealing you want to do with this teams future who is going to play defense? Scuderi? Lovejoy? Reid McNeil? Because we already know how far a $hitty defense gets us and that is nowhere. There is no good reason to trade either Pouliot or Dumoulin until we see how they do full time in the NHL because the Despres mess should never be repeated, there's not way the Ducks get this far in the playoffs without Despres, that is a fact and I don't want to help other teams win, I want this team to win. |

God if that brought back JvR I would literally cream my pants and run naked down the street before cleaning myself off.
I don't see Buffalo trading a guy they just traded for, Philly won't move Simmonds to their arch rival unless we're starting at like Malkin or something stupid, and we can't take on RoR's contract even if Colorado wanted to move him.
I think its a bit of an overpayment for Lucic and they already got Krug and Hamilton, but if Babs is looking for a shakeup of epic proportions and this can take JvR, or if the Blues like Pouliot and Sutter and are willing to either give up Oshie + or get back a lesser draft pick, then I'd be incredibly happy. - Victoro311
You want to trade Pouliot a 1st and Sutter for TJ the overrated shrinking violet Oshie?!? Wow! That's terrible. And I think JVR could be had for less as well. |
