To offer sheet them you would. If you just offered a decent contract it's just getting matched. You have to overpay enough where team won't match it. lA will figure a way to find money before they let toffoli go for a " bargain" offer sheet. That's the point. We will have to overpay to get one. They won't be expected to be franchise but they will be expected to do a lot - Fattony1187
The only way that happens is if they let Justin Williams go, and we know that isnt going to happen. |

I think the big thing that needs to be hammered home and out to bed is if Reinhart and Eichel are here Bylsma will put them in a position to succeed and not play on the 4th line.
That being said if they are here I don't see how it's not possible for both of them to put up 50 plus points each. Sure it's possible they don't take to the game right away but we are talking about two second overall picks one of which would go first in every other draft in the last decade.
I really can see this team with 10 more wins this year and 25 more points than last year if they can get any set of respectable play from whomever their goaltender is. - Stripes77
Is that a lock? Ekblad was so highly touted last year, and proved to be a damn worthy pick. I just wonder if he'd completely eclipse Eichel without doubts. |

Here's the really nice thing: it doesn't matter which one of them is better if they're both GREAT. We get one of the GREAT ones. As long as our GREAT one is GREAT, we will have a GREAT player, and it won't matter if someone else is GREAT too. |

Based on what I've read yes I would say it's a lock. In fact how much better is Ekblad than Hannifin? I don't think the gap is that much and Eichel is head and shoulders above Hannifin as far as prospects are concerned. |

reinhart is a puck feeder
I wonder if they can move eichel to the wing
that could be a great combo for the next 12 years |

Not much of a prospect guy, so that's why I figured I'd ask.
Was Hanifin granted exceptional status tho??????? |

Dan Marr - Director of NHL CS: "Everybody looks at him and says he’s a gifted offensive player, and he is, but what makes him so special is his transition game. He ‘gets it’ – that you have to play defense first and the offense will follow."
Adam Kimelman of NHL.com (Apr.20th): "An elite skater, and at 6-foot-2 and 203 pounds already has NHL size. He had a solid showing with the United States at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship."
Mike Morreale of NHL.com (Apr.20th): "The left-shot defender had five goals, 23 points and 52 blocked shots in 37 games as a freshman with the Eagles. Scouts love his offensive ability but his defensive game is a bit underrated. Hanifin's ability to excel in pressure situations and on the transition is a strength."
Shawn Reznik of The Hockey Writers (Mar. 18th): "The sturdy 6’2? blueliner is quite mobile. His skating propels the rest of his game. Hanifin has excellent edgework and rarely will you find him out of position. He knows how to play his angles well in the defensive zone and isn’t much of a risk taker. For Hanifin, you’ll oftentimes find he makes the smart, safe play that gets unnoticed.
Offensively, Hanifin is superb at carrying the puck or making outlet passes through the neutral zone. From the backend, he sees plays develop and sets up formations and cycles in the opponents end. Dictating the powerplay, Hanifin has a great shot that I’ve seen used numerous times in college, but didn’t see much of it in the World Juniors."
Bill Placzek of DraftSite.com: "Large two way defender who displays good vision and on ice smarts. Is a mobile fluid defenseman who has an excellent offensive upside to match his edgy defensive side. Four-direction skater who has great vision, poise, and makes the best plays on most shifts. Has verbally committed to Boston College." |

Mikko Rantanen's Player Profile
Goran Stubb - Director of European Scouting: "He’s a physically strong power forward with very good playmaking abilities, smart, active and involved on every shift. He has very good speed and quickness for a big man and plays with authority. He’s difficult to check, protects the puck well and has good hands."
Adam Kimelman of NHL.com (Apr.20th): "A giant power forward (6-4, 211) is well-equipped for the North American game. The 18-year-old led all under-20 players in scoring in Liiga, Finland’s top professional league, and was Finland's best player the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship. He skates well for a player his size and wasn’t intimidated playing against older competition."
Mike Morreale of NHL.com (Apr.20th): "Was considered by many observers to be the best player for Finland at the 2015 World Junior Championship, where he had a team-high four goals. The 6-3, 211-pound left-shot forward averaged more than 16 minutes of ice time per game with TPS and is effective on the power play. He has a good combination of hockey sense, hands and an explosive shot."
Steve Kournianos of The Draft Analyst: "Rantanen is most certainly a skilled power forward, but not in the physical sense. He has an NHL build and he uses his size to protect the puck as good as anyone in the draft, but he’s also a very good playmaker who sees the ice exceptionally well and can draw opponents towards him before hitting the open man; an underrated aspect of his game. He’s is definitely a thinking man’s power forward in that he does not necessarily rely on brute force to make plays. Rantanen is also a highly opportunistic and low-maintenance goal scorer. He has to be because he does not possess nor rely on one signature move or asset — he scores goals any which way he can. His shot is above average but he makes up for it with a very quick and effortless release."

Trade Reinhart to Coyotes - he can play with his Canadian Jr line mates (Domi & Duclair). We grab Noah Hanifin, opens up the Zadorov trade! - Irish 14
