If enough people get overpaid you might even have chance to get him this year. They probably don't want to let him walk for nothing. Either that or they do some serious dumping or salary. - Sabresfan-365
Hard to say what direction the NYR go into. Cap problems and they need to sign Stepan and Hagelin. They could trade Yandle and if so, we should jump on that. |

They would probably want something similar to what they gave up to get him. Would 31st be enough? Would Yandle resign here? - Stripes77
If you give him what he can get on the open market i think you've got a decent shot. But you'd have to wait till july 1 to really know, which probably rules out a trade involving a 1st rounder.

I think by 16/17 Zadorov (hopefully) is more effective than either Martin or Gorges. |

That's another name i'd call about at the draft. Speed, two way game and in his mid twenties. Good fit imo. |

Real good fit. Stepan is gonna get a big pay day so Hagelin could be the odd guy out there. |

If he gets to the open market he is going to get something crazy. I would stay away from that |

Yeah but then Risto, Eichel, Reinhart, Girgensons, Ennis would all be due to get paid |

Fair point. First, I would look to buy out Hodgson this summer and free up some of that future money for those guys. I would think Eichel's ELC will be around $4M. |

I think by then you get some money back after they've moved on from gorges or gionta and maybe hodgson. Our 2nd top pairing guy is going to get paid no matter what, those are the guys you want overpay. As long as they don't overpay the bottom 6 they should be okay. |

In three years those 5 I mentioned could eat up anywhere from $30 million to $40 million in your cap. I would be very careful paying a soon to be 30 year old (he will be 1 year older when he hits FA) a max year high cap hit contract. |

They easily could be a cap heavy team then. And the cap go to $75M. |

5 of the guys I mentioned would eat up about half of the cap.
Then add Yandle at 6.5-7.5 million
2 goalies taking up 7 total
You're at $52 million right there
Add in Kane and his $5.25 going into his last year in his contract, Moulson's $5
Youre at $62 million with 2 lines 1 D pairing and 2 goalies. You're in a world of hurt. Even if the cap does go up to $75 million. You have $13 million to sign 11 players |

? unless they're paying them big money right away i don't think they'll take up half the cap. What would Risto make on his next contract? I don't think Eichel and Reinhart will make too much on bridge deals. Moulson by then comes off the books as well (maybe even before that).
It's not an issue that's specific to yandle, whoever becomes their other top pairing guy is going to get paid no matter what, they'll have to find a way to work around that. even if it means moving one of the young players. |

I am a big bolt fan but...............
reality is it all came down to 1 period in game 7
The bolts remind me of the sabres after the first lock out, with the exception of them having an elite player added - homiedclown
