Listen, I'm not calling Bogosian a HOFer, but he will be a solid 2nd line D man, who is tough and knows how to play in his own end and is only 24. He is what the Sabres needed to supplement Risto, Zads, Pysyk, Mcabe. Besides Zads they needed more toughness and they got it. - GilPerreault11
I agree he's a good 2nd pairing defender on this team for the next few years.
If there is a minute to go in the game and we are up by a goal, I hope Ristolainen is out there before him is all I'm saying. I don't think his game is one of a shut down defender |

Yup.
It's the same Jake Gardiner argument I have with people.
If the possession doesn't amount to anything, what is the point exactly? - sbroads24
While I understand the value in players like that, I don't get it overall.
Aren't those kinds of players best as your 4th line guys, especially with how important rolling all 4 lines is now in the NHL and how important it is to have scoring coming from at least your top 3 lines?
I will absolutely get called out on this, but possession, IMO, is an overrated stat.
It's a stat that could easily be called keep away and if the trend is followed as it seems to be going now, hockey is going to turn more and more into soccer, and I am not a fan of that.
Start calling all the penalties again and I believe that will both bring back speed and flow into the game while likely putting less importance on possession. |

O'Reilly I get. Staal I do not and want nothing to do with him.
The team needs more scoring and he is certainly not the answer for that. |

Right, which has been my point all along, we traded Myers for a different version of Myers that hits more but will score less and get injured just as much - sbroads24
Let it go. No, Myers was a p ussy who is now playing better now that he has no pressure on him as a 2nd line Dman. He couldn't handle the top billing, he wasn't a top 1 or 2 Dman, and now he has his home. We have Evander Kane and Bogo. Lets see how Kane plays too. |

The playoffs are a prime example of how possession gets over rated.
There have been a few games where a team like Tampa completely out shot NY, and still lost, or Chicago being manhandled possession wise at times, and still taking it to 7 games |

If Ristolainen and Zadorov become studs, then you will never hear me talk about 57 again.......unless he puts up 60 and is nominated for a Norris which I doubt happens |

I think he can be a pretty close to shut down guy but we'll have to see, as we have been told numerous time here when supporting a former tall Sabre defenseman it takes time for defenseman to develop and reach their potential and he still looked pretty good on a terrible team last year as a 23/24 yr old. |

Would put a clog on the LW side of things. Still need RWers - Stripes77
Trade someone else, if the Rangers are shopping him (which I don't think is actually true) you make room for him. |

So you're gonna trade Kane or Moulson? Neither is going to happen. Not after just trading for Kane and signing Moulson last season. |

Yup, we are building a team and if I can make trades that better the team anyone and everyone not named Eichel is gone. |

Nash can play either wing |
|

I'm all for bringing him in if he's available, but it's gonna cost an arm and a leg. Depends on how many limbs |
|

|
And his no trade clause may be an issue like it was the first time around |

Who are we trading to get Staal & ROR?
The Canes might be ok with forward prospects, but I think the AVs would at least want one of our good young defensemen.
We aren't as deep on defense as some think.
Obv Ristolainen & Bogosian aren't getting traded. But I also think it would be a mistake to move Zadorov unless we get another good young dman back (like Myers for Bogosian)... And I really like the value that McCabe & Pysyk will end up bringing to the table.
I don't wanna trade any of those young defensemen.
If there's a true top line player involved, then that's a different story.
But then we will need to try n move guys like Baptiste or Bailey, etc for a good young defenseman to replace what we lost.

Makes no sense to trade Kane. Moulson I would trade but it's not gonna happen. Only if Nash could play RW am I doing it and his natural position is LW
Murray is married to Kane and Moulson (he gave him a NTC). Plus it wouldn't look good at all if you're trying to trade away a guy you signed and gave a NTC to one year prior. Good luck getting FA's to come here after that. |

Nash has played RW at times. He only has 3 years left too, which would be perfect, but he's gonna cost too much |
