I'm with you on this one. It was a cool crime movie and then it got AWESOME with b movie vampires! - 1970vintage
It would be tough to pull that off today, to have a movie completely switch 3/4 of the way through and keep it a secret. It's not easy to genuinely surprise and bewilder your audience, at least not in a good way. |

It's been seven years since they drafted Stamkos first overall & six years since they drafted Hedman second overall Nucker. It takes time and patience with a man who can build...we've had two good drafts in a row in my opinion.
Sbisa is nothing more than a stop-gap. It concerns me that Benning actually outwardly says he likes the kid..."like" what the hell Jim?
Anyways, they need to continue to build with a five year plan or look-ahead. |

Not sure what else he can say?
I think he is a stop gap too. Defensemen are hard to find, we lack some hitting among our dmen, he fits the bill. |

No can do. - Nucker101
I don't get what the problem is. Yes, he's a poor defenceman. Yes, his contract extension is mind boggling. Yes, he plays for a coach that believes in distributing his ice time evenly, so he's on the ice way more than a player of his skill should be. And yes, he is a Canuck for the forseeable future.
But he doesn't have a no trade clause, so pretty good contract... |

And I'll be waiver eligible next season, so I'm worth at least a third round pick. |

Yzerman has done a good job, don't get me wrong, but....he was handed a 20 year old Stamkos & a 19 year old Hedman. Panik & Kilorn as well. Not to mention he had an Art Ross Trophy winner who demanded a trade.
Yzerman was hired May 25th 2010, so like Benning he had a month to prepare for his first draft in June 2010, which wasn't, in hindsight, a great one for him. He chose Connolly over Jaden Schwartz, Tarasenko, Fowler, Bjugstad, Nelson, Coyle and Kuznetzov.
He's now traded Connolly, his 6th overall pick, for a 2nd round pick. You'd be tearing Benning a new one if he did that!!!! |

I agree that he was gifted some nice talent.
But would I rip him as a Tampa fan?
Not really. Connolly wasn't considered a bad pick at the time, his game just hasn't translated well into the pros and like Jensen people question his work ethic, not his talent. Every move he makes seems well calculated and he uses most of his draft picks wisely, whether it's a trade or actually drafting a prospect. His signings have also been pretty solid outside of Matt Carle who unpredictably regressed quite a bit over the past 2 years. I rip opposing GM's all of the time, I can't remember a time I've questioned a move Yzerman has made and was confused by it.
Like if Virtanen busts, I won't be ripping Benning since he wasn't a reach and had good production during his draft year. Ditto with Gillis and his Jensen pick. |

I know he's not gonna go out and say he sucks, but don't treat everyone like they're stupid by saying you like the kid so much when we have eyes and can see the game ourselves. Plus he paid him too much, but whatever, he won't be with the club when they're turning the corner in five years. |

Benning has made some strange/concerning moves I'll agree, but nothing major IMO. You've gotta give a guy at least five years to judge him.
Hell, Yzerman finished 3rd last only two years ago and that was three years into his tenure with a 1st and 2nd overall on his team. |
