I think his last contract was about $1.25m/year so he would be pretty cheap too (can't image paying more than $2m/year).

27 years old, 6'-4", 194lbs. Fairly "big" goalie. Would take a chance on him, but just want to make sure that the 2nd rounder we would trade is not needed for a "larger" trade.

Oh, $1.15M for this next year than UFA. So I would consider that for sure.

Id even deal a prospect if needed. Lack would be agood starter for us for many years adn I do like Lindback as a backup.

Except Lindback is a UFA and Chad Johnson is currently still under contract. So I doubt you see Lindback here this year.

Definitely a fan of Lack. I see him quite a bit out here. At $1.15 million, he played much better than Miller @ $6 million - straight up. Getting him for 51 would be outstanding but I would be give up 31 to get him. He is ready to be a full-time starter. For reference, think of the Cory Schneider situation (with Luongo) and what Schneider did last year on a lousy N.J. team.

Who we have at the goalie position is a puzzle for sure. It will have to be addressed before the season starts.

Could they just buyout Johnson? I mean, if they have no use for him, what would it cost $500k? (at most)

I say they buy him out once they get the goalie(s) they want.

Not sure how big of a market there is for him. I think he has a great shot to get the most starts here then going somewhere else

Seems like most people don't mind Lack and if he is available, I bet we see him in a Sabres sweater as all the signs point to him as a great option.

Will see what happens.

They could, but why do that if you're just going to do so to sign a different backup goaltender? He's sufficient to be a backup, so it seems like it would be a waste to do that.

There's just no room for him. Murray isn't going to offer him a contract if there isn't a spot for him.

You may have a point, it just depends if they get the opportunity to get a "better" goalie, or they could put him on waivers and see what happens.

Oh well, hope they get a proven goalie though, like Lack.

I bet Neuvirth does just as well as Lack and he costs nothing.

I don't like the idea of putting him on waivers though. If nobody claims him, all he ends up doing is going to Rochester where there's no room for him there either. Makarov and Ullmark should be the guys there next year. It's possible they could send Ullmark to the ECHL for a bit, but overall he probably should be in Rochester this year.

It's very possible he's not on the roster, I just don't think it's necessary to do more than 1 goalie move being that he is currently under contract.

Good point. Will see what Murray wants to do. I have liked just about everything that he has done so far, so I am sure I will not be disappointed.

Everyone is so quick to start selling off assets to get new faces in town....

I'm not saying Detroit has it all figured out...but I don't see them making big time trades all the time to get themselves competitive...they develop from within

people need to understand we are probably going to pick top 10 again this season..ransoming our future in order to avoid that (which would only see us jump back to top 15) is simply being impatient

3 years from now we will be watching the Buffalo Sabres in the cup final...mark my words......but its not such a sure thing if we start trying to jump the gun simply because we get bored of hearing the same names

- feetontheair22

They traded a 1st for Kyle Quincey once.

they aren't all roses and strawberries over there.

I think they are gonna ask too much for Lack like they did for Schneider for so long and then traded both Schneider and Luongo.

I would honestly love to sign Lindback or Neuvirth back but.... I think we could get Markstrom pretty cheap and he has the highest upside I think.
