The old group did as well up until the SCF. They played the same way Chicago/Detroit play. Puck possession and skill.

We'll see what he next core does. I suspect Benning ideal team will likely be more based on speed/physicality and we won't see as much skill and hockey sense as the peak years of the current core but more of he raw physical ability they lacked.

For all the talk about Benning targeting big gritty players, that's not exactly what he has brought in. Vey, Clendenning, and Baertchi aren't exactly heavyweights, and he's likely going to let Matthias, one of our bigger players, walk away.

Actually the way Matthias plays he'll probably tip toe away.

True enough, and I won't be sorry to see him go, but giving his minutes to Beartchi or Vey definitely doesn't make us bigger.

No but it might put us closer to a better draft pick.

Was hoping the Hawks would lose.definitely don't want them to win the cup in any way shape or form.

Hope Garrison gets a cup.

What did Mathias have? 16 pin and a dozen hits? Sven might actualltvbe tougher.
I just hope benning realizes you have to take one step back to take 2 steps forward

Nick Merkley performance last night probably put him in the top 10.

I usually use the Tanev equation to figure out Matthias's numbers . Any stat you want to know about him , look at Tanevs numbers and times it by three and there lies Matthias's stats

Everyone suggests Matthias will be coveted by many teams due to his size and skill, knowing this without trading his rights and letting him walk would be big fail on Benning. There aren't a lot of big gritty players to target in the FA market, which leaves the trade market and draft. The draft is just over 3 weeks away. Is there a plan?

I always enjoy Elliotte Friedman's 30 thoughts, where he usually touches on all of the teams is the league. Conspicuously there has been zero mention of the Canucks in his last two articles, who have fallen off the grid.

Who are you hoping the Canucks can get at 23?
Another hometown kid in Harkins?

It's Monday, and it's painful for me to pay most of you a compliment, however...

Esplen? There are several people on this thread that are better informed than him!

I'd take 31st overall + a late 2nd early 3rd for lack if it bennign was trading him no matter how badly i want him to stay.
I'd prefer to trade Miller for a bag of pucks though.

It was more about him asking Botch who he likes in the draft...it's Jakub Zboril. Not that I put any stock in what Botch likes or wants, he's just an observer like the rest of us.

Eat salary and send him to the Sharks.

Ryan lived here in San Jose for a short period in time, before his dad moved him back to Michigan for better hockey.

Honestly as much as I think he needs to be moved for assets. A second rounder doesnt do it for me. If Lack gets moved, I want a little more. Because were stuck with an old fart, and some guy who was once the most coveted goalie prospect in the league and now can not seem to stop a beach ball.

If its a second rounder? Im throwing up a giant middle finger.

Miller was signed as a ufa, I don't care what we get for him if we don't have to eat salary.

But the unpredictability of the goalie market...

Yeah we don't want Miller not happening but Lack on the other hand we'd most definitely be interested in.

I would say at minimum #31 (Buffalo), if there's a market for Lack then Benning is in an enviable position for a change.

Retaining salary is an absolute non-starter...they're already paying 800 thousand dollars a year of Lu's salary, how many goaltenders are we going to be paying around the league.
