1. What was the most important battle of the Civil War?

2. Do you side more with the Union or the Confederates?

3. Where would you rank "Glory" among any Civil War movies?

1. Gettysburg I guess.

2. Both sides are equally annoying

3. I don't know. Fuk Matthew Broderick. I forget if i ever saw it though. Tried to watch Gettysburg the other day and it was just too corny. Felt like a big budget tv movie with a bad soundtrack. Made it about 45 minutes.

that's one thing i dont understand. why the fuk did they all march huddled together in lines/groups? it allows artillery shells take out like 10 dudes at a time. seems so dumb...spread out and run around!

Broderick could not handle that big of a part, so I doubt you would like him in that role.

Denzel and Freeman were really good as was the guy that plays Major Mulcahy. Racist guy who is there to do a job.

Those old muskets had terrible accuracy, the only way to really hit anything was to line up like that and shoot at the other line. Artillery was also pretty poopty at actually hitting things. Soldiers equipped with more advanced rifles did not make up those line formations.

Most battles devolved into good old fashioned slash-fests pretty quickly, though. It's not like they just stood in the same spot shooting each other until nobody was left standing on one of the sides.

Also, with bayonets fixed, being huddled together like that made them far more likely to deflect a cavalry charge.

Plus they were all Americans and didn't apply a lot of logic to their tactics.

And General Grant was outrageously drunk the entire time.
