In summary:

family hunt camp on a lake. We have to boat across two lakes and then portage a few km's to get to our lake. Very rustic, but nice to get away into the backcountry.

Bass, pickerel, pike were all caught and enjoyed. 3 meals of fish, and one meal of venison steaks (from last fall hunt)

We use minnows mostly, though my cousin is a bit of lure dude.

Lots of rain the weekend we went in, and again on Tuesday, so the fishing was a bit slow early one. But our lake is pretty healthy, even when it's slow we can catch enough fish to feed 10 people.

We usually drift for the most part, but also a bit of casting and trolling if things are slow.

Live minnows are cool in ontario, though there are rules about transport, dumping bait buckets after use, what species you can catch and use etc. We catch them in the same lake we fish, so pretty much legit and on the level.
