The beverage company has launched a challenge to smartphone users that will pay out $100,000 if contestants can leave their smartphones behind for a full year.

To enter, candidates must post on Twitter or Instagram about what they would do with 365 phone-free days. Vitaminwater will then chose one person to turn off their phone for a year.

“If texting is a pleasant experience or you can get on the internet, it’s probably a smartphone,” the company said on its website.

“This means you may not physically operate, caress, hug or otherwise be physically affectionate with anyone’s smartphone.”

The lucky luddite will be given a 1996-era phone to use during the time period, but nothing with more advanced technology than that.

At the end of the period, Vitaminwater will order a lie-detector test to see if the competitor was really able to keep his or her hands off the touchscreen. If successful, the winner will walk away with $100,000.
