i bought the fabric today and chose a pattern based solely on the fact that it resembles dinosaur skin

Because there is no such thing as dark lacquer. You would need to stain the wood a dark color first and then apply the lacquer. Lacquer provides the sheen and protects the color from fading.

Another free tip. Sand it first. Wipe it down with denatured alcohol before painting. It will remove any sort of residue left from cleaners or polish. You might be okay if you don't but you sure as (frank) don't want to see all the work go for nothing with the paint starts bubbling and peeling.

I changed a light bulb in the bathroom today. I had to stand on a chair. It was very dangerous. I cut the power to the whole house. And i used a harness and tied off to the shower curtain rod. Only took 6 hours this time.
