You don't see a single job being won out of camp after two of them out performed the bunch last preseason? |

I agree. I don't think other teams have been all that swayed by him over the last year, despite his generally strong season for the Flyers. |

A ton of talk of him to Colorado especially if top 3 d is off the board. I like zacha a lot personally but nobody seems to have him that high. I think his upside is huge. |

We used to have two refs who would come out and ref all three games for $75 a piece.
When one of the refs got choked (yes, choked) by one of the nuttier players, they both decided they wouldn't return. After that it became harder to find them. We started reffing games ourselves. I would ref one or two games I didn't play in, but that also became an issue because any call I made was called in to question because I was favoring my team etc. The call helped my teams position the standings blah blah blah.
We started to ban the bumholes, but it just became to much of a hassle when the police started to have to be there because of the size of the crowds. And the city got nervous because of the same reason.
We probably had 600 people spectating at our championship game. Mind you, this was an outdoor rink in Brigantine that had no stands. With people just lined up 4 and 5 deep around the entire rink screaming like it was ancient Rome. - MBFlyerfan
God that sounds like an awfully fun time lol to play in, and to watch hahahaha

Can one make a living playing in the Federal League? Do you think he's be good enough to make it as a walk-on to an ECHL team? - jmatchett383
No. Federal League is like living expenses. They feed you and you make enough a game to share an apartment but he wants to do it just so he can say he did and it's another year or so to play competitive hockey and give the real world the finger. He'll get a job during the week for money like his buddies. Most of them work for the rink or a team sponsor.
He's not even close to ECHL. He's two steps behind at least. He wouldn't get killed but he's not at that level and he knows it. He's played with drafted or soon to be drafted kids. He sees the difference. If he had the inclination and we wanted to pay the money he could play jr at the local level. He has a friend who plays in the Empire State League out of Warwick. He can play with those kids if it wasn't for the fighting. He's not that aggressive and there's A LOT OF FIGHTING in that league.
He'd also need to be more serious. He takes games off. He can get a spot in the FHL and it's mostly a glamorous beer league for younger players whi still want to play like it counts. |

Matz played Smith Falls Ontario in the late 80;s, played on a mens team I played with around the same time here and was a great NE Philly area hockey player, supposedly always the last cut out of camp for a college team in Minnesota, was scouted by pros but not drafted in the era of behemoth knuckle draggers
Played beach roller hockey in the early days, used ot have a landscaping business

My good buddy's younger brother was playing in juniors in Washington (state), we went out for one of his games on a long weekend. It was nuts how many fights there were. The refs tried breaking them up at first, by the time the 10:00 minute mark hit in the second, the refs were just like, (frank) it, let em fight, and they might as well have thrown their arms in the air. hahahah

I believe teams will like his nasty streak (borderline dirty) on the ice. I don't think he falls out of the top 10. Guys like him who have size, skill, and some nasty usually get the benefit of the doubt. In a lot of ways, similar to Morin during his draft year. He was viewed more as a late first rounder, but the combo of physical skills and nasty got someone to take him earlier then expected.

So work has been slow today. I decided to do my official top 10 mock after reading a lot of articles and scouting reports.
EDM - McDavid
BUF - Eichel
AZ - Strome
TOR - Hanifin
CAR - Crouse
NJ - Rantenan
PHI - Marner
CBJ - Provorov
SJ - Werenski
COL - Zacha |

He played the one season on D. All it did was stop us from losing 15-5 and get it down to 6-1. I guess they felt that was more respectable. They won 1 game.
We jumped ship the next season and he decided to play for the Quakers in West Chester but it's by invitation only so by the time he was added evals were over a month prior. He played for their lower team (they ice two teams per division) and they were supposed to be bad. They broke even. He played forward all season and was 4th in the league as a first yr 18U. This season he passed thru evals and was properly placed.
This will be his varsity yr as well so after this it's over. He's had some friends drafted into the Federal League and he's hoping to lose some weight and put on some muscle this season and join them. - mayorofangrytown
the quakers, they are a decent organization with not so good teams. |

Yeah man, depending on the team that's in town they need the state police for some of the games. If we're there on a Saturday and the Revolution and playing that night we hustle out. |

Interesting you feel Marner takes a little bit of a slide. I agree with your premise only because I believe Marner gets dinged a little bit for his size.

I find it kind of the opposite. The organization kind blows. The coaches very good. The teams are typically arm and arm with the Hatfield Ice dogs every year to get out of Regionals. |

Not really anything against him. I just think Car and NJ like the combination of size and skill Crouse and Rantenan bring. AZ gets a franchise center is Strome. I think TOR could take Marner but might be hard to pass on Hanfin because they don't really have young dmen other then Reilly and if they move Phaneuf they need dmen. So that's how I got Marner to 7. I also think he can transition to wing which is why the Flyers take him. Still think it would beinteresting if he and Provorov are there to see who the flyers take. |

If the Flyers take Marner over Provorov and Meier I'll be really confused about how I feel since I haven't even considered him as a potential pick. |
