I'd be interested in fleischmann as a low cost LW option. Stafford is out there too. Former hakstol player but he likely will be too costly |

At this point probably not. Raffl scored 19 goals to St. Louis 21, and will probably score more, and provide better two way play if they stick him on that top line and leave him there. - MBFlyerfan
I was referring to Booth/Cole.
An aged MSL is better than a healthy Read. Probably equal to Raffl in goal scoring but a better play maker.
Hypothetically, if you bring in a MSL, I don't think he supplants Raffl. thats too many puck movers and not enough shooters on that line. so would you bother to pay for a year of MSL to play with Cout and Simmer? |

And who is giving us a 6th rounder for him? The same team that's gonna give the Kings a 7th rounder for Mike Richards and a 5th for VLC? |

I might depending on the cost. Also the flyers can move him at the TDl to get more assets if needed. Then you could still keep read and either Simmonds or Schenn with Laughton. I think it provides good balance. But ds on cost. |

A team like Arizona would be the only chance. But they are looking for cap hits with low actual dollars paid out.
That doesnt work for Mac, but maybe it would for VLC |

You think the Flyers would find a taker for that albatross without taking some other burden back?
Yes, if you're simply replacing a long-term UFA with a long-term UFA for less money, then I'm not opposed. But I think AMac is here to stay, so at that point, you're just adding to the pile.
Now, if they could move all 3 of Grossmann/Schenn/AMac, I'd be more open to it. But I'm just not a big fan of Jeff Finger Cody Franson. - jmatchett383
im sure tgeyll have to take something eat a cap portion etc... but getting something for your dollar is better than nothing. everyone says the flyers need a #1 dman etc etc etc... well hell they dont even have a true second pairing! i know they added medvev but hows he gonna look and who's to say mdz doesn't regress again. they need a little more mustard coming from the point. easier to add those things then to sit on this pile of 3rd pairings and pray that you one day acquire another chris pronger. |

I'm not totally disagreeing with you in principle. And personally, if they could move out AMac and more or less replace him with an upgrade, then sure, why not. But I don't think Franson is part of the long-term solution here. I'm against adding players for the sake of adding players. Unless it's a move for a top-pair defender, I'd rather try some patience and see if Sanheim/Morin/etc. can actually become that difference maker. Right now, I don't see Franson as much of a difference maker, combined with the fact that he's probably going to command north of $5M per long-term. |

Because you can't just go , "Sure, I'm positive some team will give us a lower round draft pick for a guy who, by his own admission, didn't play up to his cap hit last year." |

St.Louis 52 pts
Jagr 47.
On a one year deal I think he can still provide secondary socring and 2nd PP help |

franson is more than a marginal upgrade over the 26 points in two years or full season in two years from amac - JoeRussomanno
Not really. Franson scores about half his points on the PP. With the Flyers he's going to see less PP time, because he's behind Streit and possibly Del Zotto.
He's better than MacDonald, but not by leaps and bounds-and I'm not one to usually defend MacDonald.
Plus, how is the cap situation helped by having both Franson and MacDonald. Doubt they can find a taker for MacDonald's cap hit and term |

nope not a longterm solution just a guy who is in the same age bracket as our key players that can add a dynamic we need (more firepower from the point) until said kids are ready. |
