Correct me if I'm wrong but the Captain was traded by Sinden and the team was being coached by Burns that season. - Stalemate
Think he's referring to Chara being traded from the islanders. . . You're thinking of Thornton to San Jose maybe? |

I like watching Milbury on TV... it seems like it's just one of those "cool" hipster things to hate Milbury.
Him behind the Bruins bench is another story |

I'm quite sure the habs would offer some money or even a middle round pick to entice the Bruins to hire Milbury. |

Talk about firing him if they didn't come back and beat the Habs 4 years ago, talked about firing him if we didn't come back and beat the Leafs two years ago, Neely wanted to fire him mid-season.
This is getting pathetic. Short leash? So what the hell is the point of keeping him if you have him halfway out the door?
Edit.....FYI I always see people post the reasons why we should not keep him, but what are the reasons we SHOULD keep him?
And saying, "look what he did four years ago," and "this is the first year he missed the playoffs," isn't enough.
What are the things he brings to the table as a coach and leader that make him so untouchable?
Not his style of play anymore, not this faith in vets, what are the reasons besides "the past"? I never hear those points when people try to make an argument of why we should keep him. |

I totally agree. And a few weeks ago when there were 2-4 top notch coaches floating in the wind I was just waiting for the axe to fall. But now that everyone has found a home. . . I think he's staying. Brass can't get rid of him now, they spent too long getting a GM (Who we all knew would get the job months ago), so they got boned for a coach. |

Doesn't this feel like a half-assed mess?
They fire Peter because they need a change, but hire his Assistant?
They keep Julien, but keep him on a short least?
Wtf is going on over there! |

It's a little like the slow motion train wreck we had in Pittsburgh. Fire the GM. Leave the coach twisting in the wind. FWIW, I always though Julien was a pretty good coach. Certainly schooled Bylsma a few years ago.

I think you guys have relied too much on the best two players in the world. Thing is the NHL is not like the NBA, and you do need a system and depth.
But not an overbearing reliance on it like Julien has done.
Look what the Hawks, Ducks, Rags and Lightning have done. With a couple superstars and some creativity and at least some type of system they are great on D, have great possession numbers and they are aggressive and attack.
Even the Caps made some changes and it did wonders for Ovi. |

Yes, you need the best of both worlds. What Pittsburgh has failed to do is draft and develop young players. They had no choice but to rely on a few players, because they've had so few good young players come up through the system on cheap deals.
Actually, we had some of the best coaching we've seen in Pittsburgh in years. Unfortunately, we continue to have tragic luck with injuries and illness.
