I'd rather have Pysyk than Mantha.
Especially if Gorges plays the way he did last season - CaptainRivet
I'd rather have Mantha TBH. 3-4 D-men can be had in trade.
Plus moving Pysyk leaves you with
Zadorov
Risto
Bogo
McCabe
As your 4 young defenseman. PLus you can possibly grab one this year.
The Sabres scoring wing depth is pretty bare right now in terms of high level talent.

Absolutely.
However, that didn't stop me from wanting to see players show they can actually play. Larsson's and Ristolainen's development toward the end was extremely fun to watch. Gionta tore it up too, which you want to see from your veteran and captain.
Gorges wasn't Weber bad. But you need a steadying presence on defense, and that's why you keep Pysyk IMO.
edit: Forgot he was playing injured. We'll see what he brings next season I guess. - CaptainRivet
he'll be in a much better position playing in a second-pairing/#5 role next season |

What would it take to go after a guy like "Maroon" spelling?? from Anaheim? I loved his play, heady guy with great size and wall presence! I'd also entertain helping Boston with its Cap if we could work out a deal for Lucic! |

Imo Weber is a good defenseman…we he's playing his role as the bottom pair d man. Both him and Gorges play a similar non-top pair defensive position. On an awful possession team forced to play a top pairing role they'll look out of place bc they are. I think if health both should play a nice role next year |

Say you make the Pysyk and a 3rd rounder for Mantha trade.
Call Chicago and offer 31, and a prospect for Hjalmarsson
Then do the ROR trade.
You add this offseason:
Eichel
Mantha
Hjalmarsson
ROR

If Mantha really is that big of an issue for Detroit right now, then I'm not giving them an NHL ready Defenseman and a pick. That just seems really high for a guy who's work ethic has been pointed out as a problem by his current GM. |

I'm willing to take that risk. Buffalo badly needs top 6 wingers.

We also have very little in the way of defense behind Pysyk/Ruhwedel/McCabe. There's not the wiggle room everyone seems to think we have back there. Especially when you take into account that defensemen typically take longer to develop.

if not mistaken, murray's after players in a specific age-range this season...wanna say that 24-25 seems to be the ceiling...mantha will be 21 in September, which, for me, is right in Murray's wheel house - Michael Pachla
I get it that he basically wants players developing in waves.
Every 2 years, you could make trades and have someone in the minors looking to earn a spot with the big club. Or, if we don't have room for a player in the minors, trade them and restock the pool.
Any idea where we're at in regards to the 50 pro contract limit?

that was my original point with the quote about his work ethic and the yuckface.
I feel like we need someone to play yesterday. Not a guy who might pan out in 2-3 years.

How Dare you 89!
You know that the Soccer Dude has a "Man-Crush" on him.....
According to him, Nash has always played up to his 7.8 Million and isn't a leader on the Rangers.
It was Hayes, Krueger, and a variety of 4th line players that let the team down! |

I remember Detroit fans going nuts on me when I said he is lazy. It's been his issue since juniors.
I would do Pysyk or McCabe for him, but not much more |

Nash should be russian, 5 games in a week and maybe show up for 2 of them. I'm glad the Rangers are stuck with him. |

Well he scored 42 goals, so I think he showed up for more than 40% of his games played |

Chicago would let Saad go before moving Hjalmarsson
Seabrook is a UFA after next season and Hjalmarsson is younger |
