I still think Markstrom has a high upside and would love to see a 50/50 almost split between him and a vet like Lindback or Neuvirth back here... poop.. maybe even Enroth on a short term deal (no pun intended).

It is clear that Couver has ZERO trust in Miller after the shelling he took this season and in the playoffs. They know they can't move him or his contract.

Correct. The talk is a 2nd. Benning wants to acquire picks to get back in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. That's what I understand.

To me it seems that Vancouver is more believing that Miller is their guy and Markstrom can start learning under him. Why not try to flip a valuable guy that you aren't going to use?

If I'm not mistaken, Benning was instrumental in us drafting Miller in 1999 and since he was Benning's first big signing out there, it would certainly make sense that he wants to stick with his main guy. It makes Markstrom the back up and Lack available in trade.

It's not like Florida didn't give him time to develop either. I get that he's only 25 right now, but if he was going to be able to be an NHLer, he should have shown some flash of it at the NHL level. Instead, in the 2 years he's been with Vancouver, he has over a 3.00 GAA and a sub .900 sv%.
