Thanks, although perhaps the rule is with respect to trades only (and not signing UFA's). Namely, that you can't trade back an asset you traded that same year? Does anyone know the actual rulling?

I do not know the ruling but I remember Winnipeg once trading a Goalie for futures which ended up being the same goalie. Talk about a rent-a-player. But this was years ago. Before the new Winnipeg Jets.... that's how friggin old I am!

Only Weber is a bright spot on the horizon. Juice, 1 or 2 more years just to train Tanev.

I am scared that there actually a scenario that Phaneuf would begin to look good to our management team.

It was to circumvent an expansion draft or something like that.

I am thinking Winnipeg (1st go round) and either Pittsburgh or Buffalo.

I am also thinking it was a goalie.

In July, the Flyers traded Shawn Cronin to the Jets for futures but the Flyers canceled the Jets' owing anything in return in order to protect Pete Peeters and Keith Acton in the upcoming waiver draft -- something the Jets could do because they had available space while the Flyers did not.

In October, Pete Peeters and Keith Acton were dealt back to Philadelphia for Toronto's 1991 5th round pick.

In December 1989, the NHL ruled the transaction was against League rules and fined the Flyers and Jets $10,000 each claiming the bylaws stipulated that loaning of players is prohibited. John Ziegler said that even though there was no evidence to contradict the teams' claimed innocence ''the absence of a legally binding agreement to retrade does not mean there was no loan of the players. All legal niceties aside, the bottom line is that immediately prior to the waiver draft, the players belonged to Philadelphia and immediately after the draft, they belonged to Philadelphia. In the interim, they were protected from the draft. It is clear to me this was a loan of players.''

There is really no difference of bringing in a mistake like Dion or keeping Bieksa for two more years other than cost. They both suck.

This team this year is going to be very entertaining , but not in a good way. I am honestly fine , seeing I was hoping for top 10 pick but I am liking my chances more and more every day for top 5

Marshmallow Icing

2 egg whites
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/3 cup cold water
1 1/2 teaspoons light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup miniature marshmallows

Directions
Put egg whites, sugar, water and syrup in top of double boiler. Beat until mixed well. Place over rapidly boiling water. Beat constantly with electric beater while it cooks for 7 minutes or until it will stand in peaks when beater is raised. Remove from heat.
Stir in marshmallows and vanilla. Beat until they melt.
