He has a great pass, can get the puck through defenders, and can walk the line well, but can he jump into the slot and take the requisite beating to score dirty goals? I don't think he's that kind of player.
Maybe I'm just trying to recapture our past success, but I want the same quick, overwhelming powerplay we had for a couple years around 2010. - Gullzy
I think a lot of fans here want that yer to come back but it is history. There was so many moving parts all clicking at once . Those players are older now and slower.
We don't have that toughness or speed anymore. Ehrhoffs better days are behind him and he is just looking to get a paycheck right now. He will say all the right things to recapture the emotions of the fans for a reunion tour. It is never as good as it was.
Move on and look for new players to do that. Subban may be the closest to that and only a year or two away

Up front I would rather give a chance to the kids, but on the back end? I want a proven puck mover, regardless of age.
Check out this video of Daniel Sedin's Art Ross season:http://vansunsportsblogs....ross-trophy-season-video/
A couple things I immediately noticed was how quick the puck went from the half boards, to the defence, and into a shooting position as well as how quick the puck was directed at the net while 4 players crashed the net. You'll notice so many goals of our powerplay goals were scored when a defenceman crashed the net along with the forwards. - Gullzy
Lots of movement and energy. Quick passes.
Like the white away, stick in rink sweaters with the big numbers on the back- no names. classic.
Vantel is prolly right, as the Sedins said of last season, the youth bring the energy and hopefully some speed.

Santorelli - No.
Ehrhoff - No.
Thank you. - LordHumungous
Provided Its decent cap, I wouldnt mind either.
Especially when It comes to Ehrhoff. Our scoring from the blue line last year was horrendous. He would be a decent piece to use when It comes to PP's.
His defence isnt stellar by any means. But niether is the rest of the garbage we have back there.
If we could snag him for 3.5, and rumors are true that he wants to return to vancouver. I'd take him.
Santo at a mill I would take as well. I've talked to lots of leafs fans who said he was by far their best and most consistant player last year. Much like what we said two years ago. |

I'm envious of you're fishing skills. I go on a camping trip to the interior with a couple of friends every year, and we're lucky to pull in one each the entire weekend. - CubanBuffet
I put a lot of time into chironomid fishing and live 20 minutes from Dragon Lake in Quesnel. It is the best chironomid fishery in the province. I've buddied up with someone there who has fished it 60 days a year since back in the 80's. I've learned quite a bit from him and other hard core fishermen on the lake. These techniques and my own versions of flies I use blow people away on other lakes. They are not ready for the fanatical chironomid fishermen who can show up on a lake, take a throat sample of the fist fish, go to the fly box, pull out a incredible match no matter which of the hundreds of species it is and just pull one after another out of a 30 foot hole in the lake. The whole group at a lake will then start to troll circles around you or the others try and cast with 28 feet of leader and a strike indicator and just fail. They fkn hate you after a while....

I'm interested in this whole "bringing up players in a winning environment is better for their development" theory. Anecdotally, it makes sense. But I'd like to see the guys at 538, or even CanucksArmy to do some kind of in-depth analysis:
Look at the CHL, AHL, and any other developmental leagues and see how team winning percentage affects things like draft status, production at the pro level, etc.
Would be a tough study to do, but might be interesting. |

I will never understand this love affair of bringing back Canuck players that we have shipped out once before .
I would rather try out Vey Gaunce Cassels or anyone than bringing back Santorelli.
Give me Sanguinetti Corrado Pedan Clendenning Biega Treymko over Ehrhoff
We all talk about getting younger but always never are willing to open spots for the kids to play.
It has been said here many times, we are not winning the cup in the next two years ,give the kids a chance
we also may only have 3 mil in cap space with 6 players to still sign. - VANTEL
The last time I was in town I read you say that JB has to improve our D. Playing that list of prospects is not going to improve our D this season coming. Ehrhoff would improve the PP without a doubt. If Bieksa were gone, Ehrhoff wouldnt be adding to the sloppy D... just replacing it.
With that being said... I would be happy with us just moving Bieksa for picks and playing the season out with what we have on D. My opinion on what this team needs to do remains. Play out the older contracts that you cant move, try and be competitive without giving up youth(unless it's youth in return), and take the wins, losses and draft picks without shedding a tear about what could have been in the playoffs. No use fretting about possibly failing in the playoffs during this transition period. It's only gravy. |

#Canucks draft pick Miles Liberati (2013, R7, 205th) will re-enter this June's Draft. Yesterday was the deadline for him to be signed.

We've been doing our trip every year for a decade, you'd think that we would have figured it out by now. We generally troll behind an electric motor using flat fish. It's not unusual for a full day to go by without any of us getting so much as a bite. Perhaps we should stop bringing speakers into the boat and blasting music.
Even when the fishing is poor, the off-road back woods bocce is worth the trip. |

Do people not realize that Ehrhoff has regressed since his Canucks days? He's lost a step. |

Even having lost a step, he's still 100000000000x better than Bieksa and Sbisa. |

Exactly, the marginal benefit he'll bring to this group is worth it. The team can still strive to get younger even if they sign a couple guys in their thirties. Honestly, who would you rather have grooming a young PMD like Clendenning or Subban? Bieksa and Hammer or Erhoff?

5.5M over 6 years.
This is why Bieksa has value and I wouldn't trade Hamhuis for anything less than a 1st plus a decent(not great) prospect or young roster player.
Hamhuis >> Petry and even with an expiring deal he's still a great value at 4.5M |
