From 2014 but some real good insight on MG. This has nothing to do with feelings, why would you want to deal with a tool who overvalued players, and alienated himself from his counterparts? I think Murray from ANA was as perplexed by this clown as all of the other GM's in the NHL. Except Dale Talon who loved dealing with him as much a he enjoyed repeatedly bending him over in every trade. Edit; Gillis was in the "wrong business"

Meh, a premature celebration amongst your own guys is fine. It's a bit stupid but it's not like he said anything publicly. And there's plenty of speculation that Aquilini had a say in the Kesler/ANA deal at the TDL and it makes sense since clearly he was considering firing Gillis. |

Gillis lost more trades then he won, and his unwillingness to simply meet other teams demands led to two years of goalie BS. - CubanBuffet
He put his own personal arrogance before the team. Simple as that. |

It's been well documented that the NHL GM club is definitely an "old boys club" to which he was not welcome. Right or wrong. |

Are we seriously going full Gillis in here today. Depressing.
How about those Comets? |

Pretty much, he was an outsider. He probably wasn't liked as an agent, which carried into his GM role. Combine that with his personality and it's tough to be in good standing with your peers. The good news is that parts fixed now. |

Are those two things not tied at the hip anyway? Hard to be viewed as a good GM when you don't make the right moves for your team... |

Like I said earlier in this thread. Im befuddled by our prospects success.
It simply doesnt make any sense.
Our drafting has been so bad for so long that this is so unfamiliar to me. |

Markstrom has been huge for that team, he's like the AHL's Carey Price. Give the Habs Ryan Miller instead of Price and where would they be? Plus they have some very good vets, Saguinetti is a stud d-man in the AHL and O'Reilly is basically their Henrik Sedin. |

That's because he hasn't screw over the Canucks in the past present or future. |

He's just one more obstacle in the path of MacKenzie Stewart's future NHL career. |

Just want to throw this out there - Did anyone else hear that almost ALL the players in their exit interviews last year, asked for a #1 goalie. They wanted management to bring in a true #1 and thus the reason for miller. They didnt want to run with Lack and Markstrom. |

Green coaches an exciting style of hockey. He has really changed it over time and has become a really good coach. |

To cover up for their defence, or lack thereof? If that's truly the case this team is messed up more that I had envisioned. |

Gaunce, Corrado and Grenier played pretty big roles. Shinkaruk and Virtanen were more like role players although Virtanen got some decent minutes in the last couple of games. |

That's pretty well all we will hear about until after the Canucks Management announce they have finished their team meetings.
Watch for this...

I heard about this, but who reported it? Also, players are probably better suited to just playing and not running the team. Otherwise all draft picks and prospects would get traded for veteran help. |

Green is a really good coach. The Griffins probably had more firepower than the Comets yet Utica's team play and system along with Markstrom's goaltending overcame that. |
