I'd kick the tires to get Jarred Tinordi on the cheap now that the habs locked up petry - homiedclown
I highly doubt that signing Petry has any effect on Tinordi or Beaulieu.
For next year, they have
Subban, Markov, Petry, Emelin, Gilbert signed. One of Tinordi or Beaulieu will certainly be up full time. Gilbert will probably walk after next season and Markov will be 38 when his contract runs out. 50/50 chance he walks, only reason he wouldn't is if he gets a one year sympathy contract to finish his career in MTL.
To sum, it'd be extremely surprising to see them deal one of these two kids. They need them.

Hodgson has had 1 bad year and it was under a coach who was in way over his head. I think buying him out would be a knee jerk reaction to that, and based on Murray's comments toward the end of the year about how Nolan wasn't utilizing guys properly, I'm fairly certain a buyout isn't happening for him.
Trade, sure. Because you're getting something in return. But not a buyout. - HonkFortheGoose
He is untradeable without taking back a bad contract. He is just that - a bad contract. How many Hodgsons do you see on the elite teams? None.

He led a terrible team in scoring just over a year ago. His contract isn't as bad as many around here think it is.

They would move him in a second if they could. Nobody wants a soft winger that doesn't play defense. He is a glorified power play specialist with a big contract. You don't win with guys like that.
