I don't know if they hit more, I felt like they mucked it up more and didn't take as much poop from other players...but that's not hitting. That's being an older more confident player and standing up for yourself....culture change.

I don't understand what the obsession is with hitting today in general.
CHI and TBL are not hitting teams and neither was NYR but some people still think teams or players that hit a lot are successful.

True, the Ducks were the only team in the final 4 that were actually big/physical and CHI's speed/skill beat them despite all of the OT which should have wore them down more in theory.

I know you're being cheeky - but...

They played to their strength, which is great, but you can't win without pure skill. At the end of the day you know as well as I do that skill trumps all in the tournament that is the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Jets really need a number one center, you simply can't win without one.

I will no longer yell, "hit someone for feck sake" when the other team is controlling and cycling the puck, and will now yell, "play with more speed and skill you feckers!"

Thank you.

All ready to give it a go next season.

It doesn't sound nearly as fun.

No need to worry about that, the Canuck's don't either. We are a skill team.

You know....the sad part is the most skilled players on our team are both 35 years old, and nothing to speak of coming up behind them, other than Bo and Jake. Both of whom are most likely second or third line players at best. Which is fine I guess.

Today @ 3:42 PM ET
I hope Virtanen gets a look on the Sedins wing honestly. He has the speed, the size, the shot, and the mean streak to play with them. I bet it ends up being a good fit.
- Gullzy

The Sedin's need someone who's quick on the fore-check, like Burrows used to be, a puck retrieval guy who's also good on the cycle down low. Virtanen, like most if not all junior players, creates offense off the rush.

I don't think that there is one type of player that the Sedins need to play with. They were consistent all season playing with Burrows, Vrbata and Kassian, three very different players.

This is what I had in an earlier post, Much of what I take issue with is, if you aren't scoring or don't have the skill to put up the points, what are you doing? Do something, check someone, block a shot, stand up for your team mates. Maybe I am looking at it the wrong way.

And maybe I use the word check when I am really talking grit.

Too many passengers.

Just need a couple more players that have more of the physical element to their game spread across the lineup. Would have thought grit is an easier element to add than skill, but speed with both please.

I know. I'm really trying not to rag on them too much. The gaps of high picks we traded during the SC runs are rearing their ugly heads now.

Strictly speaking about the twins, they're just not that type of player, it baffles me. As for the rest of the team, yes I 100% agree with you (and Vantel), in that they're not a physical team.

Neither is Tampa or Chicago...although now you're talking about skill level, to which the Canucks bottom nine are not even in the same league.

There is a difference from not being a physical team like the Hawks compared to being a soft team like Canucks

I think the players play to the best of their abilities, it's not their fault they can't be more than they are. Management has to find a way to identify more skilled players and add them to the line-up. Whether that be tanking or drafting much much better, it really needs to be done.

Exactly why I'd like to see them play younger players like Jake, when he's ready, because they play with such passion and they're full of piss & vinegar.

I love that pick!!!

I think I read somewhere only a few teams over the past ten years have more regular season wins than the Vancouver Canucks, which largely identifies your position for the draft.

When you're contending, or you think you're contending, you tend to trade your picks away more so than if you're not. Also, your draft position isn't as good as everyone else's, which also affects your ability to draft in a favorable position.

I am the youngest of too many kids, when I'd ask my mom, what's for supper? (apparently after being asked and answered multiple times before me) she'd answer,

"sh!t and small potatoes, you'll eat whatever I give you!"

at least the dish you mention above has some meat.
