Conachar is a ahler IMO.

My favorite part of this run is how many tight games we've won.

Was just thinking, what I got from Carol's blog - just because a coach has success at the ahl level, it does not mean he is a good developer of prospects/talent or evidently a proponent of having these young, unproven guys on their team.

Winning is done with coaches leaning on established players. and I guess if a younger player can show they can contribute in a meaningful way, they will be played, all about the winning.

He was traded to play in Utica, still wonder if he can cut it in the NHL?

For a bubble team like the Canucks, I wish they would be more open to giving some of these players a shot.

I wondered the same about WD when he got hired. Just because he coached in the minor leagues, doesnt mean he was coaching rookies, developing them and sending them to the show. All he cared about was winning, similarly to Jr leagues where teams are stacked with max age kids and win.

I do think he was the right man for the job as he is capable of handling a mixture of young and veteran players but I dont expect him to be a guru of developing talent

I think it is inevitable that some of these players will see time on the Canucks. If Markstrom wins the Calder it would go a long way for his NHL future.

yup - just looking fw to the draft. Hopefully some trades to entertain us a little. Then ufa period which will probably be quiet.

The other thing is developing players for the role they will have in the bugs.
For example. A guy like Gaunce will never be a sniper at the NHL level. So don't hive him that role at the ahk level. Sign a vet ahl player to fill that role

As crappy as he seemed this year Im actually a little hesitant to move bieksa. He seems to be heart of the team and worry about people taking liberties with the team. like his toughness..... but yet I see problems too. Not sure everyone on the team likes him either. I think bonino hates him.

Congrats my wife had a baby boy in Feb and we waited forever to get discharged. The first 2weeks at home is always the toughest. After that its easy peasy.

I still wonder about the "learn how to win in the minors" idea. Sure, it has mainly worked out for the Lightning with the likes of Johnson, Palat, Kucherov etc. And it certainly doesn't hurt to watch the young guys have success. But it doesn't always produce results at the NHL level...

From 2005-2010, the Hershey Bears won 3 out of 5 Calder Cups and lost in the finals in another season. Their NHL parent club is the Washington Capitals, who certainly haven't learned how to win in the playoffs.

I thought it was great when he went in to take the face off for Lain in that silly line brawl with the Flames, causing Torts' melt down.

But I think the team is in serious need of a heart transplant.

I am not sure if it is a fair comparison to look at Toews as the heart or identity of the Hawks and compare him to Bieksa, who many think is the heart of the Canucks. One is serious, the other is aloof and often acts nonchalant.

Really though, this team needs more change beyond Bieksa too.
