If @CliffRonning7 says the Canucks need Barzal *thumbs up emoji* then that's good enough for us.
Agree - LeftCoaster
Even if Benning is somehow able to trade up in the draft, I hope he takes a defenceman. |

Lack and Forsling. Neither of who will be on the Canucks next year most likely. - CubanBuffet
That's simply not enough for the amount of time he's been employed as the Head European scout. |

Love this kids speed and IQ but it's extremely unrealistic to think he'll be a Canuck pick.
And yes we need a high-end defenseman for sure!! |

Me too!! I hate the Hawks but I hope they sweep the Bolts which will start the off-season business. |

I don't disagree, although it's impossible to know how much of it is incompetence and how much is management deciding not to draft the players that he recommends. |

- seriously though...what has he done other than Hansen and Edler over the past ten years? Sweet (frank) all...that's what. - LeftCoaster
To be fair, outside of Rodin I don't think they've really spent any high picks on Swedes. |

I just doubt Juice will waive, I wasn't suggesting trading down, just acquiring more than one 2nd rounder. - belcherbd
I like the two teams you mentioned, he went to college in Ohio and Ottawa is close to home, both of those teams could be playoff teams next year as well if things go their way so he could potentially be convinced. Both of them need a d-man as well. And CBJ management has a hard-on for guys with the gritty/intangibles rep. |

Do we have anyone scouting the KHL? With the rubble crashing and the league struggling to pay its players we might be able to take advantage. |

I think that he would waive but the list of teams that he would waive for would probably leave a lot to be desired. |

I have a hard to making a judging one scout over the other as we have no idea how the conversations go, so I am not defending Delorme or any of the staff.
That said the nucks have picked 16 guys in the last 10 years out of Europe. Only one of those has been in the 2nd, 3 in the 3rd and the rest 5th or higher.
Getting 2 very good NHLers, a number of guys who have had good careers in Europe and a few who still have a chance when you are picking 5th round or later most the time out of 16 isn't that bad in my mind.
I think if you compared 16 players taken from NA around those picks you would see a similar success rate.
Hansen 287th overall
Edler 91 overall
Bliznak 205 overall
Simek 167 overall
Shirokov 163
Rahimi 82
Kablukov 146
Froshaug 161
Andersson 143
Rodin 53
Iilahti 175
Tommernes 210
Westerholm 180
Blomstrand 120
Cederholm 145

That dude has a sweet job, doesn't have to do poop knowing the team never takes Russians.
This is reportedly footage of him when Benning asked him about Tryamkin at the draft table last June:

I could give a shlt where our players come from. If our scouts aren't turning over every stone possible to try and find players then they aren't doing their jobs. |

Considering they traded Forsling to Chicago, I would say he is a very outside chance to make the Canucks next year. |

Those were my thoughts exactly, but it's still just a wish and a prayer, I have a feeling we see a very similar team next fall. We will be sold on the youth movement of Baertschi, Clendening, Markstrom, Corrado as new additions. |

Not good enough! Look at the other teams that HAVE drafted well in Europe and find an "IN". Never settle or this crap above is what you get. |

You're probably right. Gun to my head, I expect Lack to be traded for a pick at the draft and that's about it. Hope I'm wrong. |
